Staybridge Suites Anchorage: It's All in the Details!


"We have a long-term guest – a Chaplain for the US Army – who is staying with us close to 6 months while on assignment. In July, his family came up to visit him. His family consists of his spouse, and their 7 children. Upon learning that they were coming to visit, he asked us about changing room types from our standard Studio Queen, to our 2-Bedroom Suite in order to accommodate so many people. He needed to stay within federal per diem, and although it is our peak season, (where a 2-Bedroom suite can sell up to $600/night) we were able to accommodate him and his family at per diem. ​


When our Front Desk agent, Pahoua Chang, (pictured far left), learned that his family was coming up, she took the time to learn the names and ages of all 7 children, and bought each of them a personalized gift bag to welcome them to Alaska. She spent her own time and money to make this family’s trip a memorable one. During their 2 week stay with us, they took part in a Scavenger Hunt around the hotel, and the whole staff participated in helping the kids find the clues. ​


Upon checking out, we spoke with both parents. They told us that this was one of the best hotels they have ever stayed in, and mentioned twice how the kids have been raving about the hotel as the “Best part of their trip to Alaska!”. I wanted to highlight this family, and how our staff was able to go above and beyond to make their trip a positive, memorable experience."

In 2024, the brand team launched its first ever Seasonal Events Playbook for Staybridge Suites.


This playbook outlines a variety of optional brand-approved events that hotels can host to enhance guest experiences at The Social throughout the year.


We are excited to introduce a new addition to the Seasonal Events Playbook, the Ultimate Apple Cider Bar! Get ready to cozy up and sip into the season with our Apple Cider Bar – your go-to spot for the best fall flavors! Whether you’re craving a warm, spiced cider or something crisp and refreshing, we’ve got it all. Guests can customize their drink with delicious toppings like cinnamon sticks, red hots, whipped cream, or caramel drizzles.

Register for IHG Americas Investors & Leadership Conference


As previously communicated, registration is now live for the 2024 IHG Americas Investors & Leadership Conference, which will take place Nov. 18 - 20, 2024, at The Venetian Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada, US. 

 

We're excited to see you all at Conference and to celebrate all that you and your hotels have accomplished. Across three action-packed days, you will learn about the latest innovations to IHG Hotels & Resorts' brands, commercial and technology platforms, and operations tools that are all designed to help drive performance of your hotels and the success of your businesses. 


ACTION:  

  • To register, visit the Conference Registration homepage, by Nov. 1 and access all the information you may need.
  • Once you register, you will be able to view the breakout sessions. New this year, breakout sessions have been automatically assigned for many General Managers (by inn code) based on their hotels' performance. However, General Managers can opt out of these auto-assigned sessions and choose to register for other breakout sessions, if desired.

Build True Confidence

With 2 months left in 2024, there is still time to make an impact and to continue to drive performance. Ensure your teams demonstrate True Confidence as they deliver great guest love.  

 

What is it? 

 

True Confidence is having the knowledge and skills to perform your role and giving guests the confidence that they can trust you to help and support them during their stay. 

 

The Share & Tell activity will help your team increase their confidence in providing local recommendations and become a more valuable resource for guests. 

 

How do I use it? 

 

  1. Choose a prompt. 
  2. Ask a few team members to respond during your shift meeting. 
  3. Allow a brief time for the team to discuss their answers 
  4. Remind your team that, by being more knowledgeable about what surrounds the hotel property, they’ll feel more confident when fielding guest requests, and therefore, become an even more valuable member of the team.

The Share & Tell activity can be found in myLearning on Brand Service Tools & Resources. The activity is available in following languages:

Coming Soon: Rational Oven Training Videos


Staybridge Suites will soon offer comprehensive training videos on the Rational oven, used for both breakfast and The Social.


These short, module-based training videos share key elements of the Rational Preventative Maintenance Program to extend the life cycle of your oven and reduce service calls, which can save your hotel time and money.


Keep a look out for additional communications on these tutorial videos coming soon.

"I was in Irvine for cancer treatment. It was a pretty stressful time, but the staff at Staybridge/Irvine made our stay so comfortable. The housekeeping staff kept our room tidy, fresh towels daily and were very responsive to all our requests and needs. The front desk was very responsive when we had questions, needed to use the outside grills or had any maintenance needs (our sink backed up one day). Because I had to make my own food, Staybridge turned out to be exactly what we needed to stay on track with my treatment AND get the rest we needed. The work ethic of your staff showed us how much they cared about what we were going through and how to make our time there less stressful. We saw them treat everyone the same way as many people were evacuated due to wild fires. The staff kept up the same level of job performance even with a packed-out hotel. This staff takes good care of their guests."
