November Newsletter 2018
RAC Family,

We are getting into the Holiday season and things are changing. The weather is changing, the colors around us are changing, and the overall energy of our surroundings is changing…. The real question, though, is are you changing? Change can be good, as long as it is in the right direction. With each season comes different attitudes, emotions, feelings. This is vitally important as this keeps us present, keeps us going. What inspires you in the Spring may not carry you through the Fall.

Change doesn’t have to be dramatic. It can be something small. Perhaps it’s as little as making a change in how you start your day…How did you start your day today?

Did you enjoy a satiating, protein rich breakfast or did you grab donuts from the break room?
Did you wake up without an alarm ready and alert or have to drag yourself out of bed?
Do you feel that your home is clean and organized or that you’re living in chaos?
Did you take the time for some reflection or were you rushing out the door?

Making intentional and subtle changes, such as altering your morning routine, can make a world of difference in your life. Starting your day the right way will help you feel better from the inside out. Make it your goal to make one minor change in your morning routine this season, and see where it takes you. See if it helps propel you forward in the day with more energy and vigor.

If change in your workout routine is what you need though, then look no further. We have amazing solutions to your all of your fitness needs. Fire up your fitness with our exclusively branded Functional Fitness classes. Are you an early bird? Come try our 5 am HIIT Strength and SurgeFIT classes on Monday/Wednesday/Friday. Or perhaps you want to come in a little later and power up your day with our TRX, Kettlebell, and Reaction Off-Balance classes. Maybe you need something after work or on the weekend. We have Bootcamp and Peak Performance classes that will leave you feeling charged and wanting more.

Whatever you are looking for, be the change you wish to see in this world. You never know where your changes might take you…

See you out on the fitness floor! -BG

Fall Swim
The 2018 Fall Swim season at RAC has been filled with hard work, best times, and lots of fun! RAC swimmers represented themselves and our club with fast swims and great sportsmanship at two different USA Swimming meets in October: the Spooktacular in Roseville and the Pumpkin Meet in Lodi.

Fall swimmers will be competing for the final time this year at the Gobbler Classic in Folsom on November 17 and 18. Good luck swimmers! Congratulations on a fantastic fall season!
Calling all High School Swimmers!
Come prepare for your best High School season yet!

Starting on November 26, Coach Andrew will be hosting a High School Winter Swim Clinic to prepare students for an outstanding high school swim season. In this 9-week clinic, swimmers will brush up on their stroke technique and get a jump start on their endurance and race training. Students from all high schools are welcome. To find out more information about this clinic or any competitive youth swimming programs at Rollingwood, feel free to reach out to Coach Andrew at [email protected]
Fall Junior Tennis and Fall Swim gear up for Woodsgiving
RAC’s Junior Fall Tennis Program and Fall Swim Program will be joining forces for the biggest youth celebration of the Holiday season!

Friday, November, 16
Fall swim and tennis families will gather in the RAC upstairs lounge at 4:30 pm to meet, mingle, and get into the Woodsgiving spirit. Coach Bobby and Andrew will then host some exciting, team-building games outside such as tug of war and sack races. After working up an appetite, our youth athletes will return to the upstairs lounge for the big potluck! During dinner, Bobby and Andrew will speak to the attending families about the successful past year of tennis and swim and about the exciting year ahead. Rumor has it, there might even be a special musical performance…
To attend Woodsgiving, please RSVP by Friday, November 9 to,
Bobby Martinez, Tennis Director - [email protected]
Andrew Savine, Aquatics Director - [email protected]
Or RSVP simply by signing up for a potluck item.

Sign Ups for the Woodsgiving potluck will be posted at RAC, downstairs in the swim room and upstairs on the tennis bulletin board. Potluck items do not have to be standard Thanksgiving fare! Share your family favorites with your Rollingwood family!
USTA Junior Open
Such a great competitive weekend of Junior Tennis, as kids competed in our USTA Jr. Open on October 19 and 20. This two day singles event consisted of a lot of the local talent and players from Reno as well as the Bay Area.

Big victories and learning experiences from some of Rollingwood's finest, and a special big shout out to Landon Arendt, who despite his back injury managed to make it to the finals of the boys 12's singles, beating three opponents to get there. He fought long and hard, but lost to number 4 seed Kato Masato, from Reno.

A great tournament here at Rollingwood and a major thanks to all of our supportive adult members.
Junior Winter Camp

Tots Tennis
Our Tuesday Tot Tennis will be taking a two month hiatus. But, have no fear we will be back in the new year. Our last class for the season will be Tuesday, November 6. We will kick it back off on Tuesday, January 15.
We have an incredibly fun group of players who are learning to love the game of tennis and who love being on the court with Coach Dan and Coach Bobby. We make it not only fun, but fundamental as well. Showing kids the proper tennis grips, how to control the ball, and emphasizing the slow swing. We incorporate games to help sustain the excitement, in our 45 minute class we keep their focus the entire time.
We look forward to seeing your little ones in the new year. Cheers!
Buttoning Down the Hatches
It's that time of year again when the weather will begin to get cooler, and we need to prepare ourselves for the elements.

During the colder months we keep the Indoor Pool heater running at all times. The fans need to run as well. This is very important because of the humidity that can be quickly created while it's warm with no air circulation inside, and cold outside. This combination can cause innumerable problems. The greatest is that it affects the air quality, which in turn can affect the water quality both of which may affect ones health.

The Outdoor Pool will also remain heated all winter long.

The health and well being of RAC members and the safety of the pool water are our biggest concerns. If you have any questions please contact the Aquatics Director, Andrew Savine at 916-988-1727 or [email protected]
We are really excited about our
Jack Frost Tennis Social which is
just around the bend.
