Meet the Jr. Fall Tennis Program Coach

How great to be able to get out on the court with everyone despite the current events! We have a fantastic fall season of tennis to look forward to with some fresh new programming. I am really excited to be a part of the Rollingwood family and just wanted to give a quick introduction to those of you I have not had the pleasure of meeting since joining the staff in November. Now that I am going to be playing a larger role at the club with Coach Bobby’s departure I wanted to make sure you all knew a little more about me and my family.
A Sacramento area tennis native, I grew up playing local SATA and USTA tournaments and went on to play at Jesuit High School. From 1997-2001 I trained at Rollingwood with other competitive USTA players. I then had the extreme fortune of playing NCAA collegiate tennis for the legendary coach Bob Hansen at UC Santa Cruz. At UCSC I was two-time All American, and team and doubles champion in 2005. I then took to my other passion; organic farming. The next several years I spent traveling around the world to volunteer on organic farms where I eventually met my wife in the Netherlands and we moved back to my native Sacramento to raise our family. In 2009 we started a farm in Orangevale where we still reside and currently farm 12 acres of tree fruit, berries, vegetables, and chickens. Being back at Rollingwood so close to home and farm has been a dream come true. There is something special about this club and I know we will be able to keep growing what is already an awesome junior tennis program. Please do not hesitate to reach out to either me or Coach Keith about getting out on the courts!

All the best, Coach Matt
Meet the Junior Fall Swim Program Coach
Spencer is a native to the Sacramento area. He swam from age 4-18 on the Roseville Sugarbears and the Granite Bay Gators, as well as participated with Sierra Marlins and CCA. Spencer went to school at Granite Bay where he also played polo. After grade school, he studied at Pepperdine University majoring in History and captaining Water Polo, while also traveling the world as a player on the USA National Men’s Junior Water Polo Team. World travels didn’t stop there, as Spencer became a Professional Water Polo Athlete in Germany from 2013-2020. During his residency he also served as a Swim Coach for youth and adults, and a Personal Trainer.
When Spencer is not coaching swim or playing water polo he likes to enjoy the little joys of life; morning coffee, time to relax in the garden, cooking and likes to share historical wisdom. Spencer is approachable and friendly, and he is excited to bring positive energy and solid swim fundamentals to the RAC swim community. His passion is to coach and help swimmers and water polo players have fun and excel to the next level.
