From understanding credit to budgeting, April is Financial Literacy Month, and it is a great time to look at getting your finances in order to help you prepare for buying a home in the future.

Resources are available across the state to support you in boosting your financial well-being and getting you on track to achieve your goals.

Connect with a CHFA-approved homebuyer education provider in your area for information on how to get financially prepared to purchase a home.
The Financial Empowerment Center of the Rockies provides free one-on-one financial counseling in English and Spanish to residents in Pitkin, Eagle, and Garfield counties ages 18 and older.
Receive one-on-one assistance with topics ranging from financial stress to credit through the Boulder County Personal Finance Program. Free services are available in English and Spanish for residents of Boulder and surrounding counties.
Free financial coaching is available for residents of the City and County of Denver through the Denver Human Rights and Community Partnerships’ Financial Empowerment Division.
Certified financial coaches can offer advice on everything from debt to credit through the Pueblo Financial Empowerment Center. The one-on-one coaching is free to Pueblo residents and available remotely or in-person.

Once your finances are in a good spot, speaking with a mortgage loan professional is a great way to learn about loan programs and down payment assistance options available. CHFA has a network of Participating Lenders across the state who can help you get started.

Colorado Housing Connects, operated by local housing nonprofit Brothers Redevelopment, Inc. in partnership with the state, is a free bilingual phone line that specializes in helping with all of your housing questions. You can get answers to questions about how to buy a home, down payment assistance, and other resources for homebuyers. Call 1.844.926.6632 or visit coloradohousingconnects.com. The phone line is available Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm MT.
