CHFA has been Colorado’s trusted partner for homeownership for more than 50 years, helping more than 155,000 people become homeowners. That includes Nyiesha and Donald, who recently shared their homeownership journey with CHFA.

How did CHFA help you achieve homeownership?

“It was an important resource for us having the down payment assistance through CHFA because it made homeownership attainable. It made us feel as though we could do this,” said Nyiesha.

How did your homebuyer education class benefit you?

“CHFA provided the homebuyer education classes, which definitely prepared us for the changes from becoming renters to homeowners,” said Nyiesha.

How has homeownership made a difference in your life?

“Owning a home made a difference in our life by bringing us together under one roof and giving us financial stability,” said Donald.

What memories and moments do you hope to create in your home?

“A lot of first memories for you know, our first grandkids, and our first family reunions of our own,” said Nyiesha.

How will homeownership contribute to you and your family’s legacy?

“I think owning our home, our own home, will contribute to our legacy in the sense of we are creating a foundation for our family and being able to pass something on to them,” said Nyiesha.

good to be home sweepstakes winner announced

A family on their porch on Halloween

To celebrate Homeownership Month in June, CHFA invited CHFA homeowners to share how owning their home has changed their life along with a photo of them and their home. CHFA received more than 150 eligible entries for the Good to be home sweepstakes and randomly selected David from Wellington as the winning entry. David received a $1,000 Visa gift card.

David shares, “…When we moved to Colorado eight years ago, we fell in love with all its beauty. But for a long time, owning a home here felt out of reach. We honestly thought we’d have to leave the place we loved just to find something affordable. CHFA changed that.” To read David’s full entry please visit chfainfo.com/goodtobehome.
