"Chelsea is a good vibe. No matter what is asked of her, she does it and she does it in such a sweet and kind manner."

Staff Support Specialist, Community Relations
Worked at HealthWest: Two years
What is your favorite part of working at HealthWest?
In 2017, I experienced my own mental health crisis and appreciate the ability now to support the process of helping others on their journey. I have found a safety net here to learn and grow personally and professionally.
I love being part of an organization that is innovative, forward-thinking, and compassionate. Every person that works here is always willing to go above and beyond to help those that need it and make big moves to be agents of change.
Tell us a little bit about you.
I share a small house with my boyfriend, two dogs, two cats, three rats, and three fish. (If you didn't know yet, I love animals a lot.) We spend much of our time going for hikes, playing MTG and other games with friends, gardening, perusing antique shops, and visiting downtown establishments.
Before joining the HealthWest family, I worked at the Arts Council of White Lake - Nuveen Center for five years. I still try to get into the classroom as much as possible and enjoy teaching Saturday art classes for elementary ages. Got little ones that like to play and create? Send them to one of our classes, my winter schedule is
posted here.
I love to try new things, not that they all stick. I often joke that I'm a "Jack of all trades, master of none"; but in the end, I think it's the thrill of learning and trying that I enjoy the most. My recent interests have been yoga, YouTube ballet classes, and learning some basic carpentry skills. I can build a pretty mean shoe shelf!
What are your core values?
Community. Curiosity. Creativity. Growth.
But wait what about all of that really important stuff like honesty and compassion? bah humbug ...
Just kidding -truly I believe that when we create authentic connections/community, strive to grow, and allow ourselves to be creative/curious all of that good stuff comes naturally.
What are other committees, community groups, clubs, or passions are you involved in?
I'm on the board for the Muskegon Humane Society and have had the privilege of joining a Bissel rescue trip to Arkansas last year. Shelters from all over the country came together to help relocate and find over 240 cats and dogs new homes. I love being a part of an organization that saves lives, tells their stories, and connects families to their new best friends.
