July 10:
Jim Greenhouse
Space Science Director
New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science
Now You See It,
Now You Don't ---
upcoming solar eclipses

Jim Greenhouse has been the Space Science Director at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science for almost 10 years, and he brings over 40 years of planetarium experience to the position.

Jim grew up in Amarillo, TX, where he had his first planetarium job as an assistant at the Don Harrington Discovery Center when he was 15 years old. At 21, he became the director of the Science Place Planetarium in Dallas, TX. He moved to Macon, GA in 1992 to serve as the Planetarium Curator at the Museum of Arts & Sciences for 10 years. After spending three years running the planetarium at the Pink Palace Museum in Memphis, TN, he moved back to Macon and became MAS’s Public Relations Director. When the position became available, Jim returned to science education and supervised the planetarium, Mini-Zoo, and exhibitions. During that time, he oversaw the renovation of the Mark Smith Planetarium into its current configuration. In 2012, Jim moved to the Settlemyre Planetarium in Rock Hill, SC for one year before finding his current job in New Mexico, where there’s enormous potential to interpret astronomical discoveries.

Jim earned an associate’s degree in Mass Communications from Amarillo College and a BS in Radio and Television Production from UT Arlington.

Let’s Support Our Nepal Project
RCA has pledged $5000 toward the Nepal Girls’ Menstrual Health Project sponsored by Del Sol. It was recently approved by RI. Del Sol and an allied non-profit, Women To Be, are hosting a Bike Ride on July 15th to raise extra funds. They need riders!

If you ride, please register.

If you don’t ride, who do you know who does? Maybe you’d like to sponsor that person for $50. If every Club member would find just one rider, we’d reach the goal number. Show your support for an important Global Grant we have endorsed.
