Pictured LeMessurier Project: 400 Summer Street Boston MA
SEE Award Category: Landmark Structures
400 Summer Street in the Seaport District of Boston, is a landmark development designed to rise above the complex underground infrastructure of the Central Artery Tunnel. Originally intended to support a five-story building, plans for the site were reimagined decades later as a high-rise tower that would require an extraordinary feat of structural engineering to realize. The structural team designed an inventive combination of systems to both prevent this 630,000 square foot tower from overloading the existing infrastructure and keep the asymmetric building structure plumb as it was erected.

NCSEA Benchmarking Studies: YOUR Opportunity to
Be Part of the Data that Drives the Profession
NCSEA is leading the charge in capturing the full picture of today’s structural engineering profession. To do that, we’re asking engineers like you to participate in two important surveys. Together, these studies combine data and perspective to create resources that strengthen firms, support individuals, and guide the profession forward.
