Who We Are

CAF Business After Business

CAF USA, located in Elmira Heights, hosted a 'Business after Business' event in collaboration with the Chemung County Chamber of Commerce on October 12th. The event drew an excellent turnout and featured notable guests, including Senator Tom O'Mara and representatives from Congressman Langworthy's office.

STEG staff also had the opportunity to attend the event. We were delighted to witness the positive response from the local business community regarding the extensive work carried out at CAF. They manufacture trains and railcars from start to finish, right here in Chemung County.

STEG Business Spotlight Features:

Southern Tier Logistics

At Southern Tier Economic Growth we believe in the quality of Chemung County's local businesses. There are high-caliber organizations located within Chemung County that do not get the recognition that they deserve. That is why we created this partnership with WETM.

In the month of October, our spotlight was on Southern Tier Logistics, a multi-state business that encompasses manufacturing, transportation, and distribution. They operate across over 26 sites, boasting a total of 8,000,000 square feet of warehousing space. Positioned for expansion, they benefit from their proximity to I-86 and rail access. Notably, they hold ISO and BRC certifications and have recently been granted foreign trade zone status. Discover more about Southern Tier Logistics today; they are a highly influential organization within the business community and the broader landscape of Chemung County and the Southern Tier.

Manufacturing Day

On October 6th, more than 400 students from the tri-county region attended the 'Made in the Southern Tier' MFG Day expo at GST BOCES Bush Campus in Elmira. The Chemung County Chamber of Commerce and the Career Development Council partnered, as they have in previous years, to organize this event. The goal of Manufacturing Day is to introduce students to potential career paths in manufacturing and emphasize the significance of manufacturing in our daily lives, highlighting its technology-driven nature.

Chemung County is home to numerous local manufacturers with a global presence. Increasing students' awareness of the opportunities available in modern manufacturing benefits not only the students but also the entire tri-county region.
