Binghamton University's Battery Hub emerges victorious in the National Science Foundation Regional Innovation Engines Competition! Senator Schumer announced up to $160 million in federal funding to fuel the expansion of America's battery industry. NY-BEST is charged with implementation to foster innovation, job creation, and policy development in the energy storage sector. The progress made by Binghamton University will continue to have positive impacts on the entire Southern Tier region.


STEG and the Chemung County IDA are thrilled to join eight Southern Tier IDAs in a research project to harness clean technology opportunties for our region.

About Us:

Southern Tier Economic Growth (STEG) a private, not-for-profit organization that fosters prosperity and vitality in Chemung County through the planning, promotion and implementation of economic development programs. Its board of directors has over 65 members, over 75 percent are private business people working side-by-side with chief elected officials and education and community leaders to help create and retain jobs, sustaining a strong economy. It works with the Chemung County Industrial Development Agency (CCIDA), a Public Benefit Corporation of the State of New York that was formed in 1975. The Chemung County IDA consists of a seven-member Board of Directors and provides a variety of tax incentives, financing, and/or related benefits to a broad range of eligible projects that provide a positive economic impact within Chemung County.
