32nd Annual Economic Forum

The 2025 Economic Forum marked another successful gathering of industry leaders. This year's panelists included Joseph Topichak, Lucas Peilert, Sally Deane-Moshier, Kamala Keeley, and Alexis Rolston. Panelists represented: Community Bank N.A, Siemens Mobility, Career Development Council, Three Rivers Development, and Chemung County Tourism Promotion Agency. The event was moderated by Dr. William Mullaney, President of SUNY Corning Community College. We also would like to thank Dr. Mullaney for his partnership and leadership during his tenure at CCC and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.

Panelists spoke about the impact of Siemens Mobility's expansion into the county, the Try Trades Program through the Career Development Council, as well as the Chemung River Greenway Program highlighted in our last newsletter, and an update on local tourism. We want to thank all of the panelists, those in attendance, and the Clarion Inn for a fantastic event.

Chemung County Planning Department & STC Grant Workshop

The Chemung County Planning Department and Southern Tier Central will be holding a grants workshop on April 7th at 12:00pm at Steele Memorial Library.


Opportunities for municipalities will be discussed, including the recently announced “Unplug and Play” Municipal Parks and Recreation grant through the Consolidated Funding Applications (CFA), and the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) grant administered by Southern Tier Central (STC).

About Us:

Southern Tier Economic Growth (STEG) a private, not-for-profit organization that fosters prosperity and vitality in Chemung County through the planning, promotion and implementation of economic development programs. Its board of directors has over 65 members, over 75 percent are private business people working side-by-side with chief elected officials and education and community leaders to help create and retain jobs, sustaining a strong economy. It works with the Chemung County Industrial Development Agency (CCIDA), a Public Benefit Corporation of the State of New York that was formed in 1975. The Chemung County IDA consists of a seven-member Board of Directors and provides a variety of tax incentives, financing, and/or related benefits to a broad range of eligible projects that provide a positive economic impact within Chemung County.
