NYS Investment in
Chemung County

New York State recently announced several awards to projects in Chemung County totaling $14,215,000.

---Stamped Fittings LLC received $1,010,000 from Empire State Development (ESD) to construct a new state of the art facility located in Big Flats Airport Corporate Park.

---Horseheads Real Property, LLC was awarded $2,000,000 from ESD to expand its warehousing and distribution capacity in the Village of Horseheads.

---The Town of Elmira also received a $30,000 award from ESD to help prepare a land use plan and economic development strategy.

---Chemung County received a $10,000,000 grant from the Department of Environmental Conservation's Water Quality Improvement Program (WQIP) to help with the Chemung County Sewer District's wastewater treatment plant consolidation project.

---The Town of Southport also received $1,040,000 from WQIP to help extend sanitary sewer lines to Fairway and Phoenix Avenues, replacing on-lot septic systems that don't meet Department of Health standards.

---Chemung County received a Local Waterfront Revitalization Program award for $85,000 to help improve the Chemung River Waterfront in the City of Elmira. The plan will identify opportunities to address waterfront connectivity, climate change resilience, and economic development.

---The Town of Big Flats received $50,000 from the NYS Community Development Block Grant Program to complete its water infrastructure extension study to areas of the community that are underserved.





Please welcome our new Community Engagement Manager

An important part of ENGAGE 2026 included a focus on program branding, internal marketing, and public relations.

We created a Community Engagement Manager position and we're pleased to welcome Ben Fleischman to the staff. Ben will also provide marketing assistance to the Chemung County Chamber of Commerce and the Chemung County IDA.

Ben interned with us in early 2022. He returns with with a Bachelor’s Degree from Elmira College in Business Administration, as well as a Masters Degree in the Science of Management. In addition to his time at STEG, he gained experience as a special projects intern at Corning Incorporated where he was able to add on to his marketing and communications knowledge and project management experience.


He spent five years on the Elmira College Men’s Ice Hockey team, and returns to the area with a keen interest in the business landscape of Chemung County. Ben is an energetic, and determined young professional who prides himself on professionalism and is excited at the opportunity to have a positive impact on the local area.

This is an opportunity to connect with transportation industry leaders at FuzeHub's next Manufacturing Forum

FuzeHub and the North American Center of Excellence for Transportation Equipment (NAmTrans) and AMT will host a one-day, in-person, manufacturing expo style event.

This event will focus on New York State’s transportation equipment and aerospace industry. A major theme of the event will be supply chain development, growth, and resilience.

In addition to panels/presentations on topics of interest, transportation equipment OEMs and SMEs from across NYS will be afforded the opportunity throughout the day to connect with new customers, suppliers, vendors, and resources via B2B matchmaking, networking, and designated booth/exhibiting space.
