S. Regina Marie Novacek
Class of 1937
S. Regina Marie Novacek, died peacefully at the Dominican Sisters' Motherhouse on May 16, 2017 at the tender age of 97. "An amazing woman of God, her heart was ever with the poor and with children," the Sisters said. She was known for her beautiful smile and generous spirit, her extensive correspondence and deep love of family.
Mildred Hedwig Novacek attended St. Ignatius School in Highland Park where she was taught by the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose (MSJ). She attended Sacred Heart High School, from 1933 to 19
This year was her 70th anniversary of graduation!
As a Dominican Sister of Mission San Jose, she lived out her vocation in elementary and secondary schools in Los Angeles, Anaheim, and the Bay Area for twenty years. She served as principal at St. Ignatius School, her elementary Alma Mater. Sister was elected to Congregational leadership for a total of twelve years, was Administrator of St. Catherine's Military Academy, and Director of Resident Students at Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy. In 2003, Sister Regina Marie retired to the Motherhouse where she devoted her energies to various internal community ministries, always gracious, loving, affirming, and generous. She spent many happy years there.
May she rest in God's eternal love & peace.
Let us pray this prayer together for all our loved ones in heaven:
he Lord is my shepherd
You, Lord, are my shepherd, there is nothing I shall want
In verdant pastures you give me repose;
beside restful waters you lead me;
you refresh my soul.
You guide me in right paths
for your name's sake.
Even though I walk in the dark valley
I fear no evil; for you are at my side
with your rod and your staff
that give me courage.
You spread the table before me
in the sight of my foes;
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Only goodness and kindness follow me
all the days of my life;
and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD
for years to come.

To participate in the empowerment of "Tomorrow's Catholic Woman" today:
Tomorrow's results are created by today's dreamers. Many people dream of a way to leave a legacy that would help Sacred Heart High School grow into the future. Some find that a good way to accomplish this goal is to designate Sacred Heart as the beneficiary of all or part of a retirement plan or life insurance policy. For further information, please contact Rachel Sanchez in the Office of Alumnae and Development at (323) 225-2209.
