Sarasota is in full bloom this spring. The Legacy Trail from downtown to Payne Park is complete -- now you can bicycle to Venice. The Orioles Spring Training season opened this week at Ed Smith Stadium. And Sarasota Bradenton Airport recorded a historic number of travelers in January: 302,189, a 138 percent increase over January 2021.

The vision of a group of individuals from the Rosemary District and the City of Sarasota to build a pocket park in the Rosemary District is coming to life. The concept of creating an open and accessible green space in an urban area is now under construction at the corner of Blvd of the Arts & Central Avenue. 


When complete, the park will be a small outdoor space for people to picnic, children to play, and enjoy outdoor concerts. 


The firm Kimley Horn, one of the nation's premier planning and design consultants, was selected by the City to design the park.


You can expect to enjoy Rosemary Park in 2023.

New Trolley Service Connects Downtown, The Bay, and the Beach


There's a fun, new way to get around Sarasota. The Bay Runner is a free trolley service that connects Downtown and the Keys.


The goal of the Bay Runner is to help reduce congestion, but it also makes it easier to get around this bustling town. Plus, you can enjoy an evening out without the worry of finding a parking space.


The trolley service has six stops downtown, travels across the Ringling Bridge and Bird Key, makes a few stops on the Causeway, St. Armands, and Lido Beach, ending its route at Ted Sperling Park at South Lido Beach. You can bring your bicycle, too! ROUTE MAP

Scooter and Bike-Sharing Program Rolls Out in the City


Perhaps you've seen residents and visitors rolling around downtown. The City recently launched a new e-scooter and bike-sharing rental program. The fleet is owned and operated by Veo, a Chicago-based company. It includes the Cosmo seated scooter, the Astro standing scooter, and the Halo pedal bike.


Rental costs for scooters are $1 to unlock via the Veo mobile app and 37 cents per minute. Bike rentals are 50 cents per half hour. Hours of operation are 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Scooter and bike corrals and parking areas are located on Main Street in downtown Sarasota, at St. Armands Circle, and at other locations.
