Coffee Cart Delivers Coffee and Smiles

The students of Dobbs Ferry High School’s Coffee Cart proudly serve staff throughout the school hot coffee and warm smiles each week. Life skills students develop real-world skills related to handling transactions, communication and teamwork. From preparing the orders to seeking out and delivering them to staff in their classrooms, the coffee cart team does it all!

“The Coffee Cart gives our Life Skills students real-world experience in teamwork, communication, and responsibility—while helping them build confidence and independence one cup at a time,” said Life Skills Teacher Jaclyn Broccoli.

Student Government and Staff Hosts

Skate Night at Dobbs Ferry Middle School

Dobbs Ferry Middle School students got together after school last week with helmets and roller blades for an evening of roller skating fun. The after-school social event offered a chance for students to have fun and build relationships at the end of the week, among disco-themed decor and music.

Thank you to the members of the DFMS student government for hosting this activity night for your peers and to the Dobbs Ferry Schools Foundation for the grant used to acquire the roller skating equipment. Student government members, with the help of teacher chaperones, manned stations necessary for the whole event to run smoothly, from concessions to check-in to the skate closet. Family skate night will welcome all interested Dobbs Ferry students and their families this February. Don't miss out!

Elementary Students Learn Science at IBM

Starting next month, four Springhurst Elementary students will be participating in a series of scientific excursions through the IBM Family Science program. Volunteers at IBM Research will guide about 100 fourth- and fifth-grade students and their parents through lessons on science topics ranging from electronics to climate change using hands-on lessons and activities. The program connects elementary school students with research and the practice of science in tangible ways, allowing them to connect with both the topics and their parents.

Theatre Arts Students Learn from Real Performers

Dobbs Ferry High School Theatre Arts students had a chance to work directly with professional performers in a pre-show Broadway workshop in an actual Broadway rehearsal studio! Students learned a musical number, rehearsed vocals and practiced choreography with Broadway performers Samantha Polino and Dan Manjovi from the musical Chess!

All of the Theatre Arts students got to see the inner workings of a Broadway show before concluding the incredible experience by seeing the matinee for themselves!

Springhurst Elementary Students Visit Dobbs Ferry High School for Science Lesson

Dobbs Ferry High School student volunteers brought science to life for Springhurst Elementary second-grade students during their visit before the holiday break. The elementary students engaged in hands-on science activities guided by the high school students. The activities included experiments related to buoyancy, ooblek, invisible ink and more.

Thank you to the volunteers and organizers for fostering a love of science among some of Dobbs Ferry’s youngest students!
