With the Regeneron Westchester Science & Engineering Fair (WESEF) just around the corner, Dobbs Ferry High School’s science research students have been honing their presentation skills with the help of DFHS teachers. Last week, teachers equipped with the very same rubrics that students will be judged on at WESEF on March 15 browsed the projects that our science research students have been working on for years.
“The Science Research course not only provides students with a space to explore a topic of interest but also helps them develop practical skills that prepare them for college and any career," said Science Research Teacher Sarah Marino. "Through the program, students build essential organizational, technological, and presentation skills. I am incredibly proud of their dedication and hard work, and I can’t wait to see the impact they make in the future.”
Science research students are working on topics ranging from climate science to biochemistry to computer science. The science research program enables students to choose a project to work on for multiple years, taking it from an idea to an experiment to an evidence-supported conclusion. Students have to become experts in their topics, capable of fielding questions from educators and scientists alike.
DFHS science research students will present before WESEF judges on March 15. Stay tuned for our coverage of the event where we will hear directly from students presenting at the fair!
