Don't forget! Open enrollment for Individual and Family Plans begins Nov. 1. In a few days, you will receive a letter from Security Health Plan that outlines your coverage options for 2022. This letter explains important changes you should know about this year’s open enrollment period.
The open enrollment period ends Jan. 15, 2022.
You may be wondering how this could affect your coverage. It depends on what you wish to do.
I want to remain on the same plan I had in 2021.
No action is needed. However, even if you don't wish to change plans, we strongly encourage you to update your application on HealthCare.gov to ensure you receive the maximum amount of financial help available to you. The American Rescue Plan Act adjusted the premium tax credit guidelines for all 2022 plans purchased on the Federally-facilitated Exchange (Marketplace). This means, regardless of your income, you will not have to pay more than 8.5% of your household’s annual income for the second-lowest-cost Silver plan available on the Marketplace. Even if you already pay a low, or even no premium, there may be a plan available with lower out-of-pocket costs.
I want to change plans for 2022.
Update your Marketplace application on HealthCare.gov before Dec. 15, 2021, and enroll in a new plan. That change will take effect Jan. 1, 2022.
If you make a change to your plan between Dec. 16, 2021, and Jan. 15, 2022, your new plan will start on Feb. 1, 2022.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service (CMS) provided us with the information from your updated Marketplace application earlier than in prior years. This means we are better able to calculate your 2022 plan premium from the outset.
