Criminal incidents involving vehicles are crimes of opportunity, meaning few of the vehicles in the reported burglaries or stolen cars are forcibly entered.
Most of the burglaries or stolen cars in Lakeway are a result of unlocked doors. In some cases, the keys to the car also were left in the unlocked vehicle. There are times when certain areas are targeted by groups of criminals.
