New Agency Fund Supports DeKalb Area Women’s Center
Introducing the M. Joan Popp Women’s Empowerment Fund for DAWC . Created through an estate gift from Joan Popp upon her passing in September 2017, this fund provides support to the DeKalb Area Women’s Center (DAWC) and its mission.

New Gift of Grain Option for Farmers
Farmers and landowners have a new charitable giving option thanks to a collaboration between the DeKalb County Community Foundation and the DeKalb County Farm Bureau Foundation . 'Give a Gift of Grain' allows farmers to align generosity with their charitable interests and receive tax savings at the same time.

Welcome Marc Hooks
Please join us in welcoming our new Grants & Community Initiatives Manager Marc Hooks . Marc began his new role on August 27 after a summertime search for the newest Community Foundation staff member initiated by the departure of Grants Manager Becky Zantout in May.

Renaissance Scholarship Recipient Announced
Congratulations to Adriana Aumann-Weyenberg, recipient of the 2018 Renaissance Scholarship. The $1,000 scholarship award will assist Adriana as she begins attendance at Kishwaukee College and Northern Illinois University, pursuing a degree in Psychology.

Southern DeKalb County Training Initiative
September kicks off the first of a three part training series geared towards staff and board members of local nonprofit organizations . The Nonprofit Essentials Training Series is led by the DeKalb County Nonprofit Partnership in collaboration with the Sandwich Area Chamber of Commerce, the Sandwich Public Library District, and Fox Valley Older Adult Services.

Community Nominations Welcome for Education Awards
Awarded annually, the Excellence in Education Awards are a great way to highlight and show appreciation for education professionals in the community . Deadline for community nominations is November 1. T hank you to donor Yvonne Johnson for her desire to shine a light on educators making a difference in the lives of DeKalb County’s children!
