During August, DEC staff personally talked with 306 adults and 340 youth to educate them about 911. At National Night Out on Aug. 7, workers rode on three buses to visit with residents at about 17 separate community block parties. Staff took the DEC van and set up booths to offer information and giveaways at the NNO Kickoff Event on Aug. 4, Metropolitan Baptist Church on Aug. 7, Community Recognition Day at Home Team Grill on Aug. 11, and Providence Baptist Church on Aug. 25. In addition, we helped students at the Police Department's Shop with a Cop, Aug. 14-15, and Virginia Rules Camp Aug. 20-24. We also hosted a tour of Boy Scouts, met residents in the Elkhardt neighborhood and presented text-to-911 information to the deaf community. Great work, everyone!
