We are delighted to announce that our Mid Wales Tourism Industry Conference 2023 will be held on Thursday 23rd November at The Metropole Hotel in Llandrindod Wells. Not to be missed. Visit Wales is also pleased to announce the return of its tourism industry roadshows. Further details including how to register will be available soon but, in the meantime, the regional dates are:


  • South East: 12 October – Coldra Court Hotel
  • North: 18 October – Llangollen Pavilion
  • Mid: 25 October – Aberystwyth University
  • South West: 8 November - Swansea.com Stadium

Important Fire Safety Guidance

A guide on how to comply with fire safety law in small places to stay, such as B&Bs and self-catering properties has now been published on the Welsh Government website: Make your guest accommodation safe from fire | GOV.WALES


We urge all members to review this. We are aware of some businesses being contacted by Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, who are undertaking fire safety visits.

MWT Cymru's key role highlighted at Brecon and Radnor politicians briefing

MWT Cymru’s key role of representing tourism and hospitality businesses across Mid Wales was underlined last month when officials and members met with Brecon and Radnor’s elected representatives in the Welsh and UK Parliaments.

Net Zero Survey


What are the opportunities and challenges for businesses in Mid Wales to reach net zero? Growing Mid Wales have launched a short survey to hear your thoughts.

By completing this 5-10 min survey, you will:

  • Inform the development of future funding calls
  • Help them to develop the evidence base to highlight the need for grid investment in Mid Wales
  • Inform the development of a future Business Cluster workshop on decarbonisation and energy
  • Support the delivery of a Mid Wales Energy Strategy and Energy Action Plan

Surveys can be completed anonymously; identifiable data will not be shared outside of Ceredigion and Powys Local Authorities. Closing date 20th September 2023.

Complete the Regional Skill Partnership's survey - for only 5 minutes of your time you could be helping inform important plans on skills and recruitment that could benefit you, your staff and business.


Share the challenges you face as a business and, in particular, around the recruitment of skills now and in the future. The RSP reports back to Welsh Government on the skills landscape for Mid Wales – by answering these few questions they can gather data which will inform and influence change in the right places.

Two New Support Funds for Businesses in Gwynedd

Busnes@gwynedd.llyw.cymru has announced two new support funds for businesses in Gwynedd.


  • The Town Centre Property Improvement Grant is a successor to a successful fund in 2022 which helped 38 businesses across 13 Gwynedd towns improve the look and appearance of their commercial properties.

  • The Business Development Fund will offer to help local businesses recover and develop into the future by saving costs and/or increasing their income.

A total of £1.7M of support will be available through a combination of funding from Gwynedd Council, the UK Government via the Shared Prosperity Fund and the Welsh Government via the Transforming Towns Fund.

Reminder: Workplace Charging Scheme

The UK Government has funding available to help businesses purchase and install electric vehicle charging points. A maximum of 75% of the cost, up to £350 per socket, is available. All businesses can use it to provide chargepoints for their staff or fleets, and charities and small accommodation businesses can also use it to provide chargepoints for their guests or visitors. More information is available at Workplace Charging Scheme.
