Get Ready to Vote TIBURON!
On November 8th the Town of Tiburon residents will elect three (3) Town Council members. The individuals elected will serve full 4-year terms, until November 2026. Below are the candidate statements.
Alice Fredericks
Occupation: Councilmember, Town of Tiburon
Priorities are securing Tiburon’s open space, continued prudent fiscal management, restoration of local control of housing and all land use decisions, support for cost efficient recreation activities, mitigation of climate change impacts including reasonable efforts to electrify and to fund infrastructure for EV charging stations and sea level rise protection.
Although my formal education includes a Ph.D. in Behavioral Medicine and a Law degree, the most relevant experience is my 20 years on the Town of Tiburon Council working with collegial productive councils and engaged community members. I have worked as a research psychologist at UCSF, served as an extern at the California Supreme Court and am an inactive member of the State Bar. Experience includes service on the Tiburon Planning Commission, Transportation Authority of Marin Commission, Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District Board, and as a State Director of the League of California Cities. Currently Chair of Marin County Council of Mayor and Councilmembers Legislative Committee, I work for protection from the state legislature’s overreach into local fiscal and land use authority. If re-elected to serve our community, I will continue to bring a broad perspective and continuity to the Council while welcoming new ideas. Questions? [email protected]
Isaac Nikfar
Occupation: Vice Chair, Tiburon Parks, Open Space & Trails Commission; Strategic Advisor, Technology Business Development & Consulting
Our family was drawn to Tiburon’s beautiful Open Space, excellent schools and safe community. After 11 years, 3 children (one at Redwood High School and two in the Reed Union School District), I am ready to give back even more to my community. As former Chair (current Vice-Chair) of the Tiburon Parks, Open Space and Trails Commission, I’ve spent five years working hard to preserve Tiburon’s Open Space and improve our Parks. During COVID-19, I ensured our residents could use our Parks and Open Spaces, as they became critical to improve our quality of life. I recently worked to revitalize Greenwood Beach, ensure toxic chemicals are not sprayed in our parks and picnic areas, and supported the acquisition of more open space.
I volunteer as Athletic Director at St. Hilary CYO (one of the most successful Basketball and Volleyball programs in Marin) and provided scholarships to families in need. Also, served as Championship Youth Coach in Little League, Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, and Lacrosse.
I support preserving Tiburon’s unique character, reducing traffic, keeping Tiburon fiscally sound, protecting the environment, combating climate change, ensuring emergency preparedness, revitalizing downtown and bringing back family friendly events, including Friday Nights on Main. I respectfully ask for your vote.

Jon Welner
Occupation: Tiburon Town Councilmember
As your Mayor and Councilmember, I am working hard to preserve the many things that make Tiburon such a wonderful community. All of the things that make our Town special—the natural beauty and open space, the village atmosphere and community gatherings, the civility and thoughtfulness with which we treat each other—all of these things require our continual effort to preserve and grow.
My wife and I have lived in Tiburon for nearly 20 years, and we have raised our three children in this beautiful community. I am deeply honored to have served on the Town Council over the last five years, and previously on the Planning Commission for over six years.
We have achieved a great deal. Our downtown is thriving and growing—with exciting new restaurants and stores opening for us to enjoy. Our amazing new library is opening soon. Our budget is balanced and our reserves are healthy. We are taking innovative steps to address critical issues like climate change. And we have launched an important diversity and inclusion initiative to ensure our community is open and welcoming to all.I am eager to continue this important work. I would be honored to have your vote.

I’d be honored to have your vote to continue my work as Tiburon Councilmember.
Elected in March of 2020, I worked to steer the Town through the COVID crisis. Emerging from the pandemic, I am excited to tackle the substantial issues that will impact our town. Specifically, I will continue my efforts to improve the quality of life for residents by supporting family-friendly initiatives and protecting open space. Most importantly, I will ensure that State mandates are implemented in a way that best preserves Tiburon’s character.
My family has been fortunate to call Tiburon home for twelve years. My community work includes: Yellow Bus Challenge; Neighborhood utility undergrounding; President, Belvedere Tennis Club ; Coach, youth lacrosse and volleyball. As Vice Mayor, I am on the Budget Committee, the RBRA Board, DEI Task Force, and TPTR JPA focusing on traffic relief. You can be confident that I am equal parts thorough, effective, and respectful, and that I communicate effusively to ensure community engagement. Before retiring, I was Head of Equity and Commodity Derivatives Trading at Wells Fargo. I graduated from MIT with a degree in aeronautical engineering. Please contact me at [email protected].
