Physicians’ and Dentists’ Confidential Line
Northern California: (650) 756-7787

About the hotline: We are a confidential service dedicated to assisting physicians and dentists who may feel overwhelmed by aspects of their personal or professional lives. Our goal is to help our colleagues before their lives and practices are in jeopardy.
How it works: All calls are completely confidential. Callers are quickly connected to a physician or dentist with extensive experience in helping health professionals having problems with stress, substance abuse or mental health issues. Callers receive the support and referrals needed to better manage whatever issues with which they may be struggling.
Who should call: If you’re a physician or dentist looking for help with substance abuse or a psychological or emotional problem, we’re here to help. If you’re a colleague, family member or friend of a physician or dentist in need of assistance, please don’t hesitate to call.

An Inside Look with CAP CEO Sarah E. Scher

The current edition of Physician Today, the quarterly practice management publication created by the Cooperative of American Physicians, Inc. (CAP), features an in-depth conversation with CAP’s CEO, Sarah E. Scher, JD, RN, who addresses what physicians and medical groups can soon expect from the medical malpractice coverage market and how an organization like CAP can be such a huge benefit to the state’s physicians, especially now during these uncertain times.

This issue of Physician Today also features:

•            Answers to common questions about telemedicine
•            Overview of regulations governing physician assistants
•            Updates to California workers’ compensation benefits
•            Patient safety best practices in your medical practice during COVID-19
•            Information about how physicians can shape public policy
•            And much more!

As a physician-owned and governed organization, CAP focuses on the long-standing and emerging challenges and opportunities that doctors face. We hope this publication offers additional insight into what distinguishes CAP as a leader in the medical professional liability industry.

Virtual Grand Rounds: Transmission, Testing and Masks: Creating a Culture to Curb COVID-19

Event Date: September 9, 2020
Event Time: 12:00 pm-1:00pm

Join our Virtual Grand Rounds: Transmission, Testing and Masks: creating a culture to curb COVID-19- on Tuesday, September 9, 2020, from 12:00 p.m. PT to 1:30 p.m. PT
Masks reduce the spread of COVID-19 to others when used by people in all public settings, and physicians play an important role in reinforcing the need for widespread masking. Additionally, the use of personal protective equipment is the first line of defense for healthcare workers, and many have questions on what are best practices to keep clinical settings safe. Appropriate testing is key to containment, but with the statewide shortage, physicians need to communicate suitable testing strategies to patients and communities.
This event will be moderated by Dr. Kimberly Newell Green.
