September 2022

MOVING ON TO 2023

I am very excited to announce the following chapter members have accepted nominations to the Board of Directors for 2023.

President- Patty Gift

Patty has held multiple leadership roles within the Chapter. She has served as Chapter President. Patty’s guidance to me during my tenure as your President has been invaluable. Under her leadership, our Chapter will continue to be the best LPGA Amateurs Chapter!

Financial Director- Keri Hoffman

Keri has been working with our current Financial Director, Kathy Millard all year. Keri has a strong background in finance and will excel in this position.

Thank you to everyone who responded to our blast email last week, offering your assistance! It is much appreciated!

We still need to fill the open Board Position below. If you are interested, please contact me for more details: [email protected]

Membership Chair

This is a Chapter Board position. In this position you would work closely with our Member Services Director. You would be responsible for reaching out to our new members to welcome them to the Chapter. You would be responsible for distributing membership information at various events

throughout the season, and ensure new members understand our policies, etc. Develop strategies on member retention/ promos/ etc. A thorough understanding of current Membership promotions from HQ is needed. This position requires that you attend monthly Board Meetings as scheduled by the President.

Have a wonderful September!

We hope to see you soon at one of our events!

Handicap Reminder

As card carrying USGA handicap members (everyone that holds a GHIN or Golfnetwork #) one of your responsibilities is to post all scores, "The Good, The Bad and the Ugly" as soon as possible after you finish the round. We have checked over the last weeks and found that most of you are doing a fantastic job - Thank you.

For those of you that rather forget about your round, please don't.

This is reminder of the main areas of a player's responsibility

  1. A player is expected to:
  • Act with integrity by following the Rules of Handicapping and to refrain from using, or circumventing, the Rules of Handicapping for the purpose of gaining an unfair advantage,
  • Attempt to make the best score possible at each hole,
  • Submit acceptable scores for handicap purposes as soon as possible after the round is completed and before midnight local time,
  • Submit acceptable scores to provide reasonable evidence of their demonstrated ability,
  • Play by the Rules of Golf, and
  • Certify the scores of fellow players.

We have a few fun competitions coming up and a verifiable handicap is needed to participate. Please don't lose out. Thank you.

For any questions, please contact Kerstin at [email protected]

Tempo Is a Good Playing Thought

Under pressure, many golfers begin to rush their golf swings. When the tempo of the golf swing changes, it disrupts the rhythm necessary for consistency and repeatability. These changes make it almost impossible for a golfer to properly time the position of the clubface through the impact zone.

A change in tempo will create a change in ball flight! Consequently, a great playing thought is to maintain the tempo and rhythm of your golf swing. The more consistent you are in replicating your own swing tempo, the more likely you will have the rhythm and timing to hit consistent golf shots.

Important SWFL Chapter Reminders!

Cancellation Policy:

Cancellation received before event registration close date: Refund, less $10 admin fee

Cancellation received after event registration close date:    Non-refundable

Chapter Event Cancellation:   Full refund/credit issued

Please note that we closely track Tropical Weather and league coordinators work closely with the courses to determine if a golf event should be cancelled or rescheduled due to inclement weather. The determination will be made & communicated the day prior to the event and if cancelled, you will be issued a 100% refund or a credit for the rescheduled round.

We do not typically cancel for general rain forecasts because in Florida it may or may not impact the course being played.  If you have rain / weather concerns, call the Pro Shop for course conditions but note that for a 100% refund, golf event cancellation must be made by the event coordinator.

*Request for Cancellation should be sent to the league/fun play event coordinator *
