mspWellness Champion Highlight - Touchstone Mental Health
Each month, we’re highlighting one of the 2022 mspWellness Champions. Champions are organizations that create, implement, and promote wellness programs as part of their organizational culture, and meet the criteria defined by the Hennepin County and City of Minneapolis Departments of Health and the Minneapolis Regional Chamber. The Champion designation program was created to recognize and celebrate organizations who work to positively affect the health and well-being of their employees and communities. September’s featured mspWellness Champion is Touchstone Mental Health!

At Touchstone Mental Health, staff self-care is extremely important to the mission, which is to provide innovative, person-centered services that foster hope, health and well-being.

That’s why the staff at Touchstone Mental Health celebrated Self-Care Month through February 2022. Weekly themes included building casual connections, building close connections, connecting with community, finding support and help, and they were sourced from the MN Department of Health's #StayConnectedMN campaign. The wellness and development committee hosted fun events for staff, and provided resources for planning for retirement and on developing and maintaining self-care plans that promote resiliency and wellness.

Staff well-being is essential, and the work of the staff wellness and development committee in highlighting self-care in February is one important step in the organization’s overall efforts to prioritize resiliency and wellness at Touchstone.

As employers you pay the expense of rising health care costs, many of which are preventable. As a partnership, we are focused on some of the top cost drivers we all share, working to improve mental health, reduce musculoskeletal issues, and prevent heart disease and diabetes. Running concurrent campaigns across multiple organizations amplifies the reach and impact as opposed to operating independently.

HealthPartners Community Living Well solution takes a tiered approach to well-being:

  • Individual participants gain insights into their health status and lifestyle risk factors and are supported to make positive change through access to research-based activities and resources to meet them at their level of need.

  • Employers receive strategic planning consultation, robust reporting, and program customizations to drive engagement in their population – leading to a workforce that feels cared for and supported in their well-being all while lowering health risk and increasing productivity.

  • Working in collaboration among employer groups and HealthPartners broader community health and well-being themes are determined and addressed throughout the year.
