After our Spring Fundraiser, we received hundreds of comments about how you liked the way we raised money to keep WBJC healthy. There was no interruption of regular programming, no shorter pieces of music, no 10+ minute pledge breaks. Instead, we brought you our normal great programming with a one minute or so reminder to pledge between pieces. This Virtual Drive was a grand success.
So we are going to try it again for our Fall Drive next month. It is a continuation of our experiment to raise money in a different way. You will receive announcements from us about the opening of the on-line pledge period, and the beginning of the quiet, on-air portion of the campaign.
As a donor from Annapolis wrote,
"A simple 'ask' is so much better than the usual pledge drive. Does the usual hoopla really appeal to classical music listeners? I'd happily give during every no-fanfare fundraising effort. Surely there's a way to expand the quiet effort you're currently pursuing, or else tone-down the usual 'beat-the-clock' approach."
We will repeat our Virtual Drive this October. Together, we can keep WBJC strong and the great classical music playing!

Over 80% of all people who need civil legal help in Maryland cannot afford it. The Maryland Pro Bono Resource Center, in partnership with the Maryland State Bar Association, works to close that justice gap. I spoke with attorneys, Cate Scenna and John Warshawsky. Information for families about how to request services can be found here.

Getting a new car? Don’t trade-in, donate!
Before you head to the dealer, plan to donate your older vehicle to WBJC. Usually the value you'll receive for your donation will meet or exceed what the dealer will offer you as a trade-in and is fully tax-deductible. We also take boats and RVs!
