Michael Waczynski directed the 1937 Yiddish film The Dybbuk, and this biopic revolves around uncovering his life before the war -- when he attempted to shed his Jewish identity. Included are excerpts and readings from his diary, in Yiddish, as well as visits to towns and shtetls he lived in before leaving for Warsaw and then Italy.
