Dear Marcia,

I cannot thank you enough for your dedicated commitment to ending hunger. In 2020 you stepped up to help provide 40 percent more food than the year before. That’s an incredible 5 million more meals for our neighbors in need.

During the winter months, we are reminded of our older neighbors living on limited, fixed incomes to meet their needs. The added expense of heating their homes easily overwhelms some already stretched budgets.

Please spend some time getting to know just a few of the more than 135,000 people your gifts help in our winter edition of Feeding Hope. Seniors make up 14% of these neighbors, and they’re so grateful for your support.

I’d also like to take this opportunity to let you know of my retirement. My cherished time with the Great Plains Food Bank will come to an end this summer.

It’s difficult to put into words what my 31 years leading this incredible organization have meant to me. Although 2020 was frightening and challenging, it showed that our communities can do great things when we work together. I want to thank you again for keeping me inspired through your support.

Our talented board of directors has been conducting a thoughtful search to find my replacement, and I have full faith in their judgment. We will keep you updated throughout this transition.

As we continue supporting our neighbors facing hunger through the pandemic’s impact, we face many challenges — but with hopeful hearts because of your care and concern. Thank you.

Your partner in hunger relief,

Steve Sellent
