Do Apples Need to Be Refrigerated?
The fridge is the BEST place to store apples. If stored in the refrigerator, apples can last up to 10 times longer than fruit kept at room temperature. The best temperature to store your apples in is between 32-38 degrees Fahrenheit and humidity between 90-95%. An alternative can be a cool room with a temperature between 55 and 60 degrees Fahrenheit.
Always remove any apples that are going bad. Rotting apples can easily spread the decay to other apples.
Here's an extra tip: DO NOT STORE APPLES WITH OTHER FRUITS OR VEGETABLES. Apples naturally emit ethylene gas which can speed up the ripening of other fruits. It's best for apples to be on their own.
