Welcome to Spring 2026: Your One-Week Guide to Starting Strong

Spring semester is almost here and we’re excited to welcome you back to Imperial Valley College. Whether you’re returning or starting a new chapter, the week ahead is the perfect time to get organized, feel prepared, and set yourself up for a successful Spring 2026.


Here’s a simple guide to help you get ready before classes begin.

Important Spring 2026 Dates to Know

Spring classes officially begin Tuesday, February 17. A few key deadlines and holidays to keep on your radar:

Feb. 17–28: Late registration period (instructor add code required)


Feb. 28: Deadline to register for full-term classes


March 1: Last day to drop a full-term class without a “W”


March 13: Financial Aid freeze date


April 4–11: Spring Recess (Campus Closed)


April 17: Deadline to submit Petition for Graduation for degree to be awarded for Spring and Summer 2026 and participate in walking during Commencement. Students must meet with a Counselor and have an evaluation completed before this date.


May 17: Deadline to drop full-term classes with a W. (Note: This date is not for short term 8-week courses).


May 25: Memorial Day Holiday (Campus Closed)


June 8–12: Final exams


June 13: Spring 2026 Commencement Ceremony


Reminder: Short-term and 8-week courses have different deadlines, so always double-check your class dates.

Your One-Week Spring Prep Checklist

Use this checklist to feel confident heading into the first week:

  1. Confirm your class schedule and start dates
  2. Log in to Canvas and check your IVC email
  3. Order or pick up required textbooks and supplies
  4. Review syllabi as they become available
  5. Plan weekly study and class time in your calendar
  6. Reach out to IVC's support services early if you need help

Open Spring credit and noncredit classes are still available, including:

  • Open full-term classes
  • 1st 8-Week session options
  • 2nd 8-Week session options

8-week classes move quickly, but they’re designed to help you focus, stay motivated, and make progress faster.


Spring 2026 8-Week Sessions


  • 1st 8-Week: Feb. 17 – Apr. 17
  • 2nd 8-Week: Apr. 20 – Jun. 12


Tips for success:

  • Plan consistent weekly study time
  • Stay on top of assignments from week one
  • Ask questions early, these courses don’t slow down

Access Your Student Schedule and Add/Drop Dates

After logging into WebSTAR, locate the Student Self Service Links section. Click on Student.

Then select View Student Schedule/Bill. This page will allow you to view your individualized class schedule, important add/drop dates, and billing details for the term

Accessing Your Student Email

  • Use your IVC student credentials to log in
  • Check your email daily as instructors and campus offices communicate important updates here
  • To log in to your student email click here or hoover over the login button on the IVC main webpage and click on student email login

Accessing Canvas

  • Canvas is your hub for course materials, assignments, and announcements
  • Log in with your IVC credentials
  • You access canvas by clicking here or hoovering over the login button on the IVC main webpage and select canvas

Course Materials Reminder: Bookstore Is Fully Online

Spring classes begin February 17, now’s the time to order your course materials.


The IVC Bookstore is fully online for textbooks, supplies, and Desert Warrior gear. Order anytime and have items shipped directly to you.


To avoid delays, secure your materials early, especially for fast-paced 8-week classes.
