Trainees: The AQB's PAREA Discussion Draft
In
its most recent discussion draft, released on March 28th, 2019, the AQB discusses the use of PAREA in virtually training candidates seeking the supervision of qualified appraisers to attain their experience requirement for certification. What exactly is PAREA? It is simply an alternative experience model to the current supervisor/trainee model that is currently in effect.
As you well know, there is a significant lack of prospectives entering the appraisal profession and one of the most significant roadblocks to their entry is finding someone who is qualified, competent and willing to supervise them. In order to bridge this gap, the AQB proposes that virtual training models be implemented to provide another path to fulfilling the experience requirement.
Various means are discussed including but not limited to computer based learning, video tutorial, virtual simulation, and virtual reality training. Also discussed are how PAREA will be verified, the maximum allowable experience, the level and qualifications of supervision and more.
