, I hope you and your loved ones are doing well.

As we adjust to a new way of living and working, we take comfort knowing that amid the uncertainty, incredible things are happening all around us. Carizon has gone through a complete service transformation to keep both our staff and the people we serve safe and healthy.

Although our buildings are closed, we are open and committed to supporting the wellbeing of our community.

We are collaborating with partners across Waterloo Region to ensure everyone gets the help they need to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on our community’s mental health and wellbeing.

We know we are stronger together. We also know that we are all doing the best we can. If you need help, please reach out. We are here to support you, and we will get through this together.

Thank you for being part of the Carizon Family and we hope you enjoy our Spring Newsletter,
Tracy Elop, CEO

Temenos-Online:
A New Way To Connect With Families
When the school boards asked students to stay at home for an extended “break” due to COVID-19 concerns, our Temenos team realized just how deeply the students and their families rely on their daily connection with this program.
Click here to read more about the creation of Temenos-Online, a digital adaptation of our program to foster connection between our team and our youth despite physical distance, while providing a sense of structure and normalcy.
A Big Thank You to Our Volunteers
Although we celebrate our volunteers all-year-round, this past National Volunteer
Week (April 19-25) was a great opportunity to recognize all of our Carizon volunteers who donate their time and talent to support our community.

Thank you to everyone who gives so freely of their time to support the people we serve!
Carizon for the Community
Being at home all of the time is a big adjustment for anyone, and this feeling is multiplied, especially if you have little ones.

We want you to know that we see you and we know you are doing all you can. You may feel lonely, but you are not alone in this . And now, more than ever, you need to remember to take care of yourself.

That’s why we launched www.carizonforthecommunity.ca, an easy, self-serve website that has free wellness resources and activities to help YOU and your family while staying at home.
Carizon Turns 7
Let’s break out the cake!
At Carizon, we have a long history of community love and collaboration, with the roots of our organization originating in St. Agatha over 150 years ago.
It was 7 years ago, that two social services agencies - Mosaic Family Counselling & KidsLINK - merged to create Carizon Family and Community Services.

The vision was to create an organization that would better serve families with wraparound support. And that’s what we do! Like many others, we did not expect to find ourselves in quarantine for our birthday, but that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate with style!
Show Your Sole for Mental Health
As a part of the Show Your Sole campaign - a joint initiative between Carizon, CMHA WW, and Lutherwood - we invite everyone to celebrate Mental Health Week by visiting www. showyoursole.org and downloading the teal shoe soles to display in your windows.

Showing your sole will proudly demonstrate your support in reducing the stigma associated with mental health.
Take a Night Off From Cooking and Support Carizon!
On May 14, 15 & 16, Golfplay’s Ironwood Bistro has kindly offered to donate $10 from every pick-up order to Carizon!

Community Love
We are always extremely appreciative and humbled to be a part of such a collaborative and loving community.
Thank you to the COVID-19 Community Response Fund of Waterloo Region ! This collaborative effort from generous partners allows us to continue providing subsidized counselling sessions to help people who need the most during this time.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to Sobeys on Bridgeport in Waterloo for its recent donation of Gift Cards, which will go to families in our many programs and services that need food or household items during these difficult times.

And finally, our sincerest thanks to those who chose to support Carizon with their #GivingTuesdayNow donations.

As we continue to support families who are struggling, we ask you to share your passion for community and consider donating to Carizon today.

I am inspired by our community and how we continue to show up for each other in every way we can. It reinforces that in these times of physical distancing, we know we are still connected, even when we are apart.

Stay safe and stay healthy,
