From the Director of Children's Ministries...

Dear St. Mark’s Family,

In the United Methodist Church, each time a child is baptized, the congregation makes a sacred promise: to surround that child with love, guidance, and support so they may grow in faith and become disciples of Christ. This vow is not just a formality, it is a calling to nurture and support the children and families entrusted to our care. It is also a calling to recognize and affirm the sacred worth of children as full participants in God’s kingdom.

How Can We Live Out This Commitment?

  • Being Present: By prioritizing the voices and experiences of children in our worship and community life, we affirm their vital role in the body of Christ. How can we create space for children to lead and shape our faith community?
  • Teaching and Mentorship: Discipling children is not about simply imparting knowledge but about walking alongside them in mutual learning and growth. How can we cultivate relationships that honor the spiritual insights of children?
  • Prayer and Encouragement: Children are not just recipients of our prayers but also offer powerful prayers themselves. How might we invite and encourage their prayers for the church and the world?
  • Creating a Safe and Nurturing Environment: A high theological view of children demands that we protect and uplift them, ensuring their full inclusion and dignity. What barriers might exist in our church that prevent children from fully belonging?
  • Supporting Parents and Caregivers: Recognizing that parenting is a sacred vocation, the church is called to stand beside families and equip them for the holy work of raising children. How can we create a communal approach to raising and discipling children while also supporting families as they do this hard and holy work?

Thank you for the many ways you already affirm the sacred worth of children in our church community, by listening to their voices, empowering their leadership, and embracing them as co-laborers in God’s kingdom. As we reflect on our baptismal vows, may we continue to nurture and learn from our children, ensuring they always know they are not only loved but also essential to the body of Christ. Your dedication to this sacred calling is a blessing to our entire church family.

Grace & Peace,

Hannah Pratt

Director of Children’s Ministries

Thank you to all who signed up to attend the Valentine's Day Dinner! The dinner will be in the Rec Center at St. Mark's. We recommend entering via door 10 by the banquet hall, across from the playground. If you've not yet paid, there will be a station to pay at the Rec Center doors. 6-7 p.m. will be the dinner hour and 7-8 p.m. will include live entertainment! Volunteers to help set up, serve, and reset the room after the event would be very welcome!

Light to the Nations

The season of Epiphany is all about light and revelation. It celebrates how Jesus was revealed to the world as God's Son and as Savior for all people, not just a specific group. That's why our Epiphany Sermon Series is entitled "A Light to the Nations."

The word "Epiphany" means "a sudden realization" or "aha moment," and during this season, we will celebrate how Jesus came to bring hope and light to everyone. We'll also be invited to share the light of Christ with the world.

Upcoming Sermon Texts

Feb 16: Luke 6:17-26

Feb 23: Luke 6:27-38

Youth Dinner Sign Ups

Hello! Our youth meet on Sunday nights from 5-7 for youth group almost every Sunday. We eat with one another, fellowship and have fun with one another, and grow closer to God with one another. If you would be willing, we need folks to help us with food! I have created a sign-up genius with the dates food is needed. This is a great practice for anyone to do solo, or for families and Sunday School classes to be a part of! Thank you all so much!

Blessings and Peace,
