The Annual Giving Campaign runs through Sunday, November 16th.

This Sunday

Following coffee hour on Sunday, we will continue our discussion of the history of Palestine. In our first session we examined this history from the Ottoman Empire to the founding of the modern state of Israel in 1948. In this session we will examine the historical events from 1948 to the present. This session can stand alone, so even if you missed the first session, please join us. The session will be facilitated by Don Liebich.

Green Team

"The first fall of snow is not only an event, but it is a magical event. You go to bed in one kind of world and wake up to find yourself in another quite different, and if this is not enchantment, then where is it to be found?" J. B. Priestly

Zeke (youngest), Katrina, Stephen, AND our dear friends from Emmanuel Episcopal Church is Hailey!

Concert on November 2nd

Anna Majernikova, mezzo-soprano, and Ashley Mekeel, piano, will offer a recital of Spanish and French love songs on November 2, 5:00 p.m.

Anna and Ashley feel that each time they come together to sing and play, time seems to stop. Inner freedom arises, peace fills their hearts, any pain transforms into beauty, and love expands through every sound. This is the energy they love sharing with their audiences - a space where the soul can breathe, hearts can open, and joy arises.

Rector's Discussion Group

Spirituality: A Brief History, Philip Sheldrake

This Fall please join the Rector’s Discussion Group for a study of Philip Sheldrake’s classic, Spirituality: A Brief History. Tracing the evolution of Christian spirituality from the New Testament era up to contemporary times, Sheldrake charts key historical figures, ideas, and images, illustrating how spirituality has been understood and expressed across different periods. The book also considers:

o The nature and meaning of spirituality

o 21st-century spirituality

o The dynamics of devotional spirituality

o How Christian spirituality has interacted with other faith traditions over time

About the Author

Philip Sheldrake is an influential religious historian and theologian, with a strong academic background in spirituality as an emergent discipline. He has taught at University of London, University of Cambridge, Durham University, and the University of Wales.

Sheldrake has served as president of the Society for the Study of Christian Spirituality and holds positions at the Von Hügel Institute (Cambridge) and the Institute for the Study of Contemporary Spirituality (Oblate School of Theology).
