Board of Bar Commissioners Election 2018 (First Bar Commissioner District)
Voting in the 2018 election for the State Bar of New Mexico Board of Bar Commissioners began Nov. 9 and closes at noon Nov. 30. Four candidates are running for the three open positions in the First Bar Commissioner District (Bernalillo County). Members with a principal place of practice in the First Bar Commissioner District and active members who reside outside the State of New Mexico shall vote in this election, which is the district in which the State Bar office is located. Business of Law Practice Management Survey
The State Bar and the State Bar Foundation's Center for Legal Education are planning a seminar for the fall of 2019 that will address the business needs of its members engaged in a small firm or solo practice. To help us determine what issues are most important, we have developed a survey geared at members currently practicing in a small firm or solo setting, or thinking about transitioning into a small firm or solo practice. Minimum Continuing Legal Education Compliance Deadline Approaching

Solo and Small Firm Section SSF Roundtable Breakfast
The Solo and Small Firm Section is hosting its first SSF Roundtable Breakfast. The event will take place at 8:30 a.m., on  Dec. 4,  at the State Bar Center. There will be  food and a discussion on the state of business, technology tips, a chance for to ask the group about pressing issues in your practice and networking.  All State Bar Members are invited. For the first meeting, breakfast is FREE for both section members and prospective section members who register with Deian McBryde at . There are only 30 spots available.
Solo and Small Firm Section Annual Meeting/Social Gathering
The Solo and Small Firm Section will host its annual meeting/social gathering at 4-7 p.m. on Dec. 6, at Seasons 52 restaurant located on 6600 Menaul Blvd NE. All members and potential members are welcome.

Membership Luncheon and Annual Meeting
Join the Albuquerque Bar Association for its membership luncheon and annual meeting at 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. on Dec. 4, at Hyatt Regency 330 Tijeras NW, Albuquerque. This event will celebrate the ABA's judge and lawyer of the year. The judge and lawyer of the year will be announced closer to the event. The cost will be $30 for members and $40 for non-members. There will be a $5 walk-up fee. Register for lunch by 5 p.m. Nov. 30 with interim executive director Deborah Chavez or call 505-842-6626.  Parking is available on the streets surrounding the Hyatt Regency if the visitor parking garage becomes full. Albuquerque Lawyers Club Monthly Lunch Meeting
The Albuquerque Lawyers Club invites members of the legal community to its December lunch meeting. U.S. District Court Judge James Browning is the featured speaker. The title of his presentation is "Are those Expensive Experts Worth It? Rethinking Expert Testimony in Jury Trials."
