Fellow Mark Makers, each of us with our own style, Sheri Trepina, Me, Shelle Lindholm
Watch for our Museum show in spring 2019!

Step 1 Hone your Style:
"Just Do It!" as the Nike motto suggests.

In reading Finding Your Style a composite of 12 artists' views on the subject compiled by Krystal Norton I was struck by the comments of Connie Solera who claims "style is as embedded in us as our DNA..."  Connie came to this conclusion after teaching art K-8 for 13 years (900) students/week.  Practice, curiosity and willingness to make crummy (and great) art are all you need to hone your style.

Step 2   Add the element of gratitude for the time and desire to "Just do It!"
In addition I am also thankful for:
⭐️My Mom and all she taught me over the years, her unconditional love and encouragement.
⭐️My cast is off and I can paint again!  My hand is still swollen and sore but this keyboarding project is going much faster than the last!
⭐️Brothers, friends and family to spend life's special moments with!

"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.  Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow."
 -- Melody Beattie

What are YOU thankful for?

Step 3 To Hone your Style,
Feed your Curiosity
An  artist date:   I am planning my next painting series, researching techniques and images.  I plan to watch nature films, focusing on Rocky Mountain animals.  Yellowstone's  Trails and  Tails is my favorite so far and was available to watch free on Amazon Prime.  The River Otter is calling my name!  This artist date was perfect for my injured hand and heart so I think I will continue to pursue these wildlife films for the next few dates.

Step 4 Find your style
by experimenting!

Step 5 Hone your Style by being willing
to play, to paint (verb)
without the pressure of a product, (a painting--noun).

My first step is always a "doodle start". Clear wrap is creating texture on this canvas.  The lime green and blue are left from the last time I used the clear wrap and some may stay after the paint has dried and I pull the clear wrap off, I count on it to add character to my "toned canvas".
