If your student does not need to makeup an exam on 1-26 they do not need to report. If a student has a lunch period during one of the testing period they are to report to the cafeteria during that time to study until their next exam / dismissal.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

MID-TERMS ARE HERE!

Students will dismiss at 10:35 a.m. this week. If students need to remain after school for extra help or any other activity, there will three runs of late buses; one at 12:00 noon, 2:15 p.m. and the regular late bus at 3:40 p.m.

Please consider supporting The Class of 2027 as they sell Nothing Bundt Cakes bundtlets. Orders can be placed through participating members of the Class of 2027. If you do not know a freshman who is participating in the fundraiser, but would still like to make a purchase, please see Miss L in B-62 or Miss H in C-78. 

The Sophomore Class trip is Scheduled for May 18, 2024 to Hershey Park. Sophomores can register for the trip here. See the class of 2026 group on Schoology for more information.

The Class of 2026 is selling Phillies Tickets to the April 20, 2024 game. Purchase your tickets through the link provided and a portion of the sales will go to our class. Deadline to Purchase Tickets is February 20th.

The Delaware County Technical School application is open for interested students to apply for the 2024-25 school year. Applications are due by February 29, 2024. Click here to access important information and the DCTS application link.

PA CareerLink offers a comprehensive array of services tailored to youth aged 16-24 during our new Extended Hours programming.

MHS Peer tutoring continues in the MIC after school- please check the updates on Schoology for availability.


Members should plan on attending the general meeting for this month - on Tuesday, January 30th after school in the MIC. Thank you!

 Science tutoring will be held after school from 2:20-2:55. Please see Mrs. Wiest or Ms. Phelps with any questions. 

TICKETS GO ON SALE JANUARY 16

UPDATE!!


The Winter Formal has been postponed until the evening of Thursday February 15th. (Students do not have school on Friday the 16th). For the postponement, all current tickets sold will be honored for this date. If a student that currently has a ticket can not attend this new date please see Mrs. Maiale. If students would like to attend and were not originally attending they will have the opportunity to purchase tickets after mid terms. Important: New Eligibility will run on 2/9.


Please note for all dances/activities: Students must be academically eligible (failing no more than one class), have no disciplinary problems, be on time to school, present for every class, and have no outstanding fines in order to participate in any school event. If you are deemed ineligible by SV Administration to attend a dance/activity, you will not receive a refund for your ticket already purchased, and your guest may not attend either. No bags/backpacks are permitted at dances. Small purses will be subject to search prior to entry. 

STUDENT SHOWCASE

The Coding and Gaming class finished up their semester by racing robots in the Northley Pool. Two robots pulled away from the rest of the group and made for a photo finish. The winning robot was designed and controlled by Issa Smith. 

The Sun Valley Hi-Q team will be hosting a home competition on Friday February 2nd @ 9:15 a.m. in the Sun Valley Auditorium.

Green Careers Exploration Day at Longwood - Registration Now Open - Wednesday, March 6, 2024: 9 am–12 pm 


Free for registered high school students (grades 9–12) and one accompanying adult. Registration closes February 23 or when all spaces are filled. This program provides high school students the opportunity to explore the breadth of careers found within a public garden firsthand—and work towards fulfilling their career-shadowing graduation requirements—with our Green Careers Exploration Day, designed for students in grades 9–12 and free for registered students and one accompanying adult. Accompanying adults may explore the Gardens on their own and meet their students after the program concludes.


Spots are limited. Registration is required and available on a first-come, first served basis. Each student will need to complete an individual registration form with their parent/guardian.

STUDENTS OF THE WEEK

MADELINE AJARKO


Maddie is a great representation of Sun Valley. She is involved in a variety of school activities, including the marching band and the indoor track team. Madie is also the president of the Class of 2026, where she has made it her mission to provide fun and memorable experience for all of her classmates. Maddie is also a member of the student senate.

RICHARD J. SCHARRER


RJ is also another great representative of a hard working Sun Valley Student who brings positive contributions to our school. Not only is RJ the varsity football quarterback, he is also on the wresting and lacrosse teams. RJ also serves as the vice president for the class of 2026 and is a member of the student senate.


JACKSON LOFTUS


Jackson is an exceptional student in my Criminal Law course. He is motivated, works hard, and shows enthusiasm for the topic. Thanks for all your hard work this semester, Jackson.


MARGARET MUCKLOW


Maggie is a hard-working student who excels in Civics and Government. She is enthusiastic, asks great questions, and brings a lot of energy to my first-period class. I also feel like she would yell at me if I did not choose her.

The D&D Club will meet on Mondays and Thursdays after school in room C73.  


BLACK STUDENT UNION


The Black Student Union will meet on Mondays, after school, in room C86. All are welcome!

The Science Olympiad Club will meet on Tuesday, January 17th after school in Room D- 97.

GAMING CLUB


Attention Gamers: If you are looking for something fun to do after school, like to game, and want to meet new friends, come to Mr. DiProspero's room, C88, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 2:15 until 3:15 and test your skills.

ATTENTION STUDENTS:


Penn-Delco provides a late bus for students who stay after school everyday, Monday through Thursday. Students should be in the lobby by 3:40 p.m. Please check with the driver to make sure you board the appropriate bus. Please note that there is NO late bus on Fridays.
