Hello Sun Valley Families!

Welcome Back!!!!

To start the year we will be with reviewing many of the important policies and expectations that are in the Family and Student Handbook. We highly encourage all families to thoroughly review our handbook so that you are aware of all of our policies and procedures. Doing so allows us to continue to raise the bar for all Sun Valley students. The Handbook can be found HERE

Our school wide behavioral expectations focus around being Ready, Respectful and Responsible. It is our belief that if we can continue to thrive to be great in these areas our successes can be endless.

Students must be prepared to attend each day of school and class on time (in class before 7:30). They must be fully engaged in the learning process in each of their scheduled courses while keeping their cell phones/earbuds away during instructional time. We ask that you support us in our cell phone policy to ensure students respect the learning process while still having access to their devices in a responsible manner.

Finally, I would like to reinforce the expectation that if a student is

having any trouble at Sun Valley it is either reported anonymously

through safe2say or taken to a staff member.

Together we will make this a great year of teaching and learning!

Barksdale School Photo will be here on Thursday, September 5th 2024 for grades 9th - 11th.

Any senior student that did not have their senior portraits taken over the summer, Barksdale School Photo will be here Thursday, September 5th and Monday, September 9th.

ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS!

This is just a reminder that you must keep your Scholarchip ID swipe cards. These same cards will be used again this school year. If you misplace your ID, you will need to purchase a new one. The cost of a new ID is $5.00.

Attention Parents/Guardians of the Class of 2025

For school attendance in 12^th grade, a dose of the meningococcal conjugate vaccine, given at age 16 or older, is required on the first day of school. Students who have not received the required immunization will be excluded on 9/11. If you have not already done so, please send in a copy of your child’s immunization record to the school nurse. Please contact the nursing office, 610-497-6300, EXT. 2373, with any questions.

Class of 2025 Immunization Update 

The PBIS Store continues to be open every Wednesday during all lunch periods. Be sure to keep earning and redeeming your Sun Dollars for prizes!!

The Math Honor Society will be posting applications for new members in September 2024! Please check Schoology for any updates and reach out to Mrs. Caputo with any questions. Current members will be able to run for officer positions in the fall as well.

CHRISTOPHER QUINTANS

Ms. Hill's choice for Staff Member of the Week was Mr. Quintans. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable about his content area but he is committed to building strong relationships with students. His dedication to the SVHS student body is commendable. I am always inspired by his patience and understanding even when challenging situations arise. Mr. Quintans is flexible and continues to push his students to be the best version of themselves. We are lucky to have Mr. Quintans at SVHS and I’m grateful for his support and compassion for students.

Mr. Quintans will choose our next Staff Member of the Week in September.

Upcoming College Visits

Upcoming college visits - Juniors and Seniors – Please sign-up in Naviance. You must pre-register in order to attend scheduled college visits.

Registration closes 8hrs prior to each visit.

ATTENTION ALL STUDENT ATHLETES:

Fall sports officially start on Monday, August 12^th! 

Football Heat Acclimatization is the week of August 5^th! 

Mark these dates on your calendar to avoid any conflicts. All student-athletes will need a new physical for the 24-25 school year. Physicals cannot be before May 1^st, 2024.  All PIAA Physical packets are due to the Athletic Office before Monday, July 29^th.  Newly revised packets for this year can be printed off the Sun Valley Athletic website or picked up from the Athletic Office.
