Week of 04/22/24 to 04/26/24 | |
Hello Sun Valley Families!
3rd Quarter Marking Period Report Cards are now posted in Skyward. Please ensure you are logging in and having conversations with your students on their progress. At this point of the year you will be able to have a good idea of what a student's final course grade could look like. Please reach out to us if you have any concerns that we can help with!
What an incredible Junior Prom we had Friday evening! Kudos to all of the staff that volunteered their time and the students for representing Sun Valley with Class!
This week we highlight the Sun Valley Senior Mock Interviews. Seniors have been preparing for this critical life experience for weeks and they get to show it off to local leaders.
We thank you in partnering with us in ensuring your students meet the expectations of being ready, respectful and responsible each and every day!
John Paul Roskos

ATTENTION CLASS OF 2024 STUDENTS AND FAMILIES
Please see the timeline below to note all the important dates that will be happening over the next several weeks.
|
Also, Seniors please note that Thursday, May 2nd is the LAST DAY for seniors to hand in college acceptance and scholarship letters to guarantee recognition in the graduation booklet. Bring your letters to the counseling office before school, between classes, at lunch or after school. We will copy and return the originals to you. It's that easy! Schools DO NOT inform us of acceptances. The only way for us to know where our students have been accepted is for them to bring in the letters. Also, do not forget scholarship letters as well. We want to get an accurate total of the money that has been awarded to the Class of 2024.
We are proud of your accomplishments and want to make sure you are recognized.

The Senior Mock Interviews for Sun Valley High School will take place
Friday, April 26th in the high school gymnasium.

VIETNAM VETERANS VISIT WITH SUN VALLEY STUDENTS!
Thank you Mr. Jack Mitch, Mr. Frank Roessner, and Mr. Mike Houlihan, who took time to share their wartime experiences with our Contemporary United States History and AP United States History students this week. Their firsthand accounts provided invaluable insight into the realities of the Vietnam War and brought the classroom lessons to life. Their bravery, resilience, and willingness to share their stories have left a lasting impact on our students, and we deeply appreciate their service and dedication to educating the next generation. We thank them for their time and sacrifice.
| | | The National English Honors Society will have our next meeting on 4/29, where we will rehearse our induction ceremony. The induction ceremony will be held on May 2nd at 3:30. If students cannot make it to the ceremony, we will have their certificate and official welcome letter available for them to grab at their convenience. | |

Digital Hall Passes are Coming
Over the next few weeks, Sun Valley will be piloting a new hall pass system where students will request a hall pass on their Chromebook, and carry their school ID to indicate they are in the hallway on an approved pass. Groups of teachers will begin using these passes in late April and early May, and we anticipate using the system building wide in September.
For those families who have students and Northley Middle School, we will be using the same system that they have been using since earlier this year.
