Message from Sun Valley Admin

Week of 09/16/24 to 09/20/24

Hello Sun Valley Families!

We have completed our first full week!

This week we hope you can join us for Back to School Night. Tuesday September 17th join us from 6pm-8pm as you follow your students schedule to get to meet all of their teachers. Students will be filling out a hard copy of their schedule for you in their homerooms so ask them for it!

The PSAT is being administered at SVHS on Wednesday October 9th. This is a district wide half day of school. Students in grades 10 and 11 are automatically registered to take the PSAT. 9th grade students who would like to take the test must opt in using the form sent to parent emails. All 12th grade students and 9th grade students who do not opt in do not need to report on 10/9/24.

Interested in learning more about the PSAT. Check out this link: https://blog.prepscholar.com/what-is-the-psat-test

There are currently lots of clubs and activities getting started up so

please encourage your students to review their options and get involved!

Thank you for all you do to support our students as we prepare them for

life! If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to

reach out!

Parents, I was reading a parenting book today and wanted to share the following summary of an excerpt to help empower you all.

Perspective of how many weeks you may have of your child being under your direct care until they are an adult:

14 years old ->208 Weeks left

15 years old ->156 Weeks left

16 years old ->104 Weeks left

17 years old ->52 Weeks left

Don't miss this week in your kid's life. Leverage your routines and your family times together. If you share a meal, establish values with intentional conversations. Pause with them before you depart for sleep and strengthen your relationship through a heart to heart conversation. Leverage any drive time to conversate on what is occurring in their life and help them interpret life. If you can in the morning connect with them positively and instill purpose in them and give them fuel for their day.

Hopefully you find this helpful. Have a great one!

John Paul Roskos

Principal

Dr. Page’s pick for Staff Member of the Week:

As well, Mike operates as a supervisor to his employees all while maintaining inventory for our school district in a fast-paced environment, which is no easy task. During my tenure with the National Honor Society and as part of our Mock Interview team, Mike worked tirelessly to ensure our students and guests were provided with refreshments in a timely and exceptional manner; further demonstrating his commitment to our students and community as a whole. Above all, Mike is a kind, generous and thoughtful man. An individual I have the greatest level of respect for.
