Through Refugee School Impact Funds, JFS provides support services to refugee children to enhance their learning experience and long-term outcomes. Stamford Public Schools provides unmatched support to refugee children through their New Arrivals Program. A dedicated team of teachers provides an engaging multicultural learning environment for children who have been in the country less than one year. One New Arrivals classroom received a very special visitor: Marty, a recent graduate of ROAR of Ridgefield’s Therapy Dog Program! Each week, Marty and her owner spend time with students, spreading joy and offering emotional support. The benefits of therapy dogs for students include emotional support, an academic boost, social connection, and comfort, helping students feel more relaxed, confident, and ready to engage in their learning. Marty plays an important role in creating a positive and supportive environment for the students.
Thank you to ROAR of Ridgefield for making this possible and creating a nurturing and supportive space for this special group of students!
