The Life of Gerda Weissmann Klein

Join HERC’s Education Coordinator Lauren Crampton for a FREE Lifelong Learning class about the inspiring life of Gerda Weissmann Klein. Her autobiographical account of the Holocaust, All But My Life, was adapted for the 1995 short film, One Survivor Remembers, which received an Academy Award and an Emmy Award, and was selected for the National Film Registry.

Clay Handbuilding For Beginners

This beginner-friendly clay class teaches participants to create artistic pieces using essential clay methods, including pinch pots, coils, and slabs. You’ll learn scoring and slip techniques, as well as how to identify the stages of clay—wet, leather hard, greenware, fire-ready, and bisque.

This class introduces essential principles and techniques of colored pencil drawing, focusing on dry media and working from photographs and direct observation. Students will explore tools, pencil types, holding techniques, color theory, and mixing.

Whether you are a poet or simply enjoy reading poetry, Poetry for the Love Of It (PLOI) seeks kindred spirits to join our vibrant community. PLOI meets on the 2nd and 4th Monday of every month via Zoom.

Our Notable Poet for April is Carolyn Kizer. She won the Pulitzer Prize in 1985 for her book of poems titled Yin. During the last half hour of the meeting, members and guests may share their poems, or a poem written by another. Writing poems is not a requirement to join the group.
