Clean Living & Simple Meal Prep

Thur., Feb. 8 , 11:00 am - Noon

Sam Poppell's journey to health and wellness is an inspiring story. After struggling with sleep apnea, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol, he decided to take control of his life to reach and maintain his health goals.


With the help of healthy portioned meal prep, Sam was able to lose 172 pounds and wean himself off of medications. Learn about Sam’s personal transformative journey and how clean eating helps people achieve their health goals, one delicious bite at a time. Catered lunch provided, $5 donation for lunch.

The culture shock of coming from the freedom of Spain to live in Georgia during the 60's. Highlighting the life of Amaya Portland of Spain, who met her African American husband Paul King while he worked and studied in Madrid. The couple took residence in Albany, Georgia in the 60's and raised a family there.

A good precursor to the Civil Rights Institute Tour on February 29.

Leon County Senior Outreach

The Leon County Senior Outreach Lunch & Learns return in February with more exciting programs and fun! For those who live on the outskirts of Leon County, monthly Lunch & Learns happen at community centers and feature an array of speakers on informative topics.

Fiddle Tunes Jams

Wednesdays, 12 noon - 2 pm

Feel free to bring your lunch and join us for some toe-tapping fun, or simply enjoy a mid-day break! Our Fiddle Tune Jams friends are back, with local musicians on the ukulele, banjo, fiddle, stand up base and more. Musicians are welcome to bring your own instruments and join the jam.

Bocce is one of four sports added to this year's Capital City Senior Games.

Art Program

CLAY: PINCH, COIL, SLAB

Thursdays, 1 - 4pm (starting February 8)

In this beginner’s class, you will learn the three ancient skills that will allow you to build ANYTHING with clay from bowls to butterflies to birdhouses.



Pre-registration is not required. Punch card - 8 classes for $80, available for purchase the first day of class.

ONGOING ART CLASSES are available on a weekly basis in the art studios at the Tallahassee Senior Center and offer a ‘drop-in’ structure and do not require pre-registration. We encourage you to visit the class, chat with the instructor, and receive a supply list.
