FSU Museum of Fine Arts - Water Ways: Indigenous Ecologies and Florida Heritage

Thurs., March 12, 10:45 am

The Water Ways exhibit highlights how water shapes cultural geographies and ways Indigenous communities have expressed their relationships with water. Featuring artists from Florida and all over the world and includes historical artifacts from regional collections.

Enjoy hearing the story of how this popular eatery came to be while you dine on a delicious sandwich, soup and dessert.


Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens

Tues., March 31, 7:15 am - 8:15 pm

This guided trip features an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour, engaging animal interactions, and learning about care for the animals. The experience will be highlighted by a visit to the zoo’s new Manatee River Habitat! Includes lunch & transportation.

In this 2-week workshop, instructor Leslie Cohen will guide you step by step in creating the Melon (Egg) Basket. Perfect for spring and Easter activities. All supplies included.

Grandparents as Parents (GaP) supports grandparents and relative caregivers with:

• Support groups

• Informational luncheons

• Community agency connections

• Legal resources

• Health screenings

• Social activities for the whole family


During Spring Break, the GaP program will take a field trip to Redemptive Love Farm!

Poetry for the Love Of It

Whether you are a poet or enjoy reading poetry, Poetry for the Love Of It (PLOI) seeks kindred spirits to join our vibrant community. PLOI, which is a chapter of the Florida State Poets Association, meets on the 2nd and 4th Monday of every month via Zoom from 1:00 - 2:30 pm. Writing poems is not a requirement to join the group.

 

Upcoming meetings are Monday, March 9 and March 23. A presentation about the limerick form of poetry is the topic of the month.

 

During the last half hour of meetings, members and guests may share their poems, or a poem written by someone else.
