Do You Need to Take a Required Minimum Distribution from your IRA? As you plan your IRA Required Minimum Distribution (RMD), you may find that you do not need all of the money the government is requiring you to take. Making a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) with a portion of your IRA’s RMD to a charity can help reduce your tax bill.
The IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution allows individuals age 70½ and older to make direct transfers, up to $100,000 per year, to 501(c)(3) charities such as the Tallahassee Senior Citizens Foundation, without having to count the transfers as income for federal income tax purposes. Contact your IRA administrator to get started with your gift!
