Supporting Seniors

Do You Need to Take a Required Minimum Distribution from your IRA?

Many people take advantage of tax incentives to make charitable gifts with their investments and retirement plans.

With Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCD), you can make donations through your IRA and save money on your income taxes. A qualified charitable distribution is a transfer from an IRA directly to an eligible charitable organization, such as the Tallahassee Senior Citizens Foundation. A QCD counts toward your RMD, if you don’t want to withdraw the full amount. This reduces your adjusted gross income, giving you a pretty major tax advantage. Contact your IRA administrator to direct a charitable distribution on your behalf.
