Do You Need to Take a Required Minimum Distribution from your IRA?
As you plan your IRA required minimum distributions, you may find that you do not need all of the money the government is requiring you to take. Consider using some of it for a charitable donation with an IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD).
A QCD refers to a way for individuals aged 70½ or older to donate (up to $108,000 for 2025) directly from their Traditional or Roth IRA to a 501(c)(3) organization, such as the Tallahassee Senior Citizens Foundation. Making a QCD counts toward your required minimum distribution for the year and is nontaxable. It’s a win-win for you and the Senior Center! Talk with your IRA administrator to get started.
