TCPUD Multi-Use Trails
In June, the TCPUD began reconstructing the North Shore Trail. This segment, originally constructed between 20-40 years ago, includes approximately 2.2 miles of trail from the eastern side of Tahoe City along State Route 28 to the Dollar Point community. Planned improvements will realign a portion of the trail for safety, correct pavement cracking and root intrusion, and improve visibility, ADA compliance, and trail transitions. This week, the team will be working on trail surfacing between Lakewood and Lake Forest.

North Lake Tahoe Parking Management Program
As part of a new Parking Management Plan in Kings Beach, Placer County will test a new pilot program beginning at the end of July and going through September 30, 2024. This program will better manage the existing parking supply for the Kings Beach commercial core and residential grid streets that experience high volumes of summer visitor parking. During the pilot, the Christmas Tree lot located at 8676 North Lake Blvd. in Kings Beach will temporarily implement paid parking, and enforcement will include parking citations. Funds will be used locally in Kings Beach for parking, mobility and transportation infrastructure.

Workforce Housing Preservation Program
Placer County is hosting a buyer-realtor virtual workshop on Monday, July 29 at 6:30 p.m. to share the benefits of the Workforce Housing Preservation Program and help local workers apply to the program. The workshop will help answer questions about the program’s guidelines, how people can apply, which homes qualify and how local workers can get up to $150,000 towards home ownership in North Lake Tahoe.

North Lake Tahoe Workforce Vanpool
Since launching in December, this program has eliminated 15,258 vehicle trips and saved 426,559 pounds of CO2 emissions. The program has thirteen active vanpools with an average daily ridership of 65, up from 55 the previous quarter. Current companies participating in the program include Palisades Tahoe, Everline Resort and Spa, Granite Peak Management, and Tahoe Truckee Sierra Disposal.

TART Connect Expanded Service Hours
The Placer County Board of Supervisors approved a contract with Tahoe Downtowner LLC to continue the Tahoe Truckee Area Regional Transit micro-transit service TART Connect through June 30, 2027, with two one-year renewal options. Through April 2024, TART Connect has carried 1,027,164 riders, system-wide, with 481,835 of those rides occurring in Placer County zones.

BEBOT Beach Cleaning Highlights
Through funding from the TOT-TBID Dollars At Work Program, the innovative beach cleaning robot, BEBOT, is cleaning up the North Shore this summer! A demo at Commons Beach during the Tahoe City Farmers Market on August 22 was recently added to the schedule. In the meantime, watch the latest video highlights of BEBOT in action.

Grand Opening in Kings Beach
The thriving Kings Beach community will soon be home to a permanent, year-round Visitor Information Center. A North Tahoe Chamber Mixer and Grand Opening celebration is planned for Thursday, August 15 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. that will be open to the public.

Partner Spotlight: Lake Tahoe Ambassador Program
The Lake Tahoe Ambassador Program motivates and inspires community members and visitors to recreate responsibly while enjoying Lake Tahoe’s parks, trails and beaches. Through the TOT-TBID Dollars At Work program, the NTCA has funded the expansion of the Ambassador program in North Lake Tahoe, with four positions still to be filled. During the summer, Ambassadors are stationed at popular beaches, trailheads and visitor centers around Lake Tahoe during peak times. Ambassadors receive training in basic environmental research skills and complete a summer-long research project with a professional mentor, utilizing the data collected on the job.

29th Lake Tahoe Summit
Register for the Lake Tahoe Summit on Wednesday, August 14 at Round Hill Pines Beach Resort in Zephyr Cove, hosted by U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto. This year's theme is “Connecting Tahoe: Investing in Transit, Trails, and Technology for the Future.” NTCA will be at the booth fair along with other organizations from around the basin.
