As we continue our 65th year, we look forward to several upcoming performances and events and hope you can join us! After a successful performance at the Cuesta College Jazz Festival in San Luis Obispo on November 9, our Torrance Jazz Singers (Torrance Civic Vocal Jazz Ensemble) and the Torrance Civic Chorale are both preparing for a busy holiday schedule and looking forward to some special events in the Spring. We hope to see you when we sing at the City Council Meeting on Dec. 3 or 17 (7 pm), when we carol around Old Torrance on Dec. 5 (6 pm), at the Torrance Holiday Event at Wilson Park on Dec. 14 (5 pm), or at our Holiday Celebration concert alongside the Palos Verdes Symphonic Band on Dec. 21 at 7:30 pm. "Save the Date" for our TCC Jazz Night Fundraiser on March 22, 2025 and our Spring Concert ("Music for the Soul") on May 10, 2025. These are only a few of our Spring events!

A Holiday Celebration 2024
This will be a concert not to be missed. The TCC and TCVJE are joining forces with the Palos Verdes Symphonic Band to present a "Holiday Celebration" like no other! We will sing the entire concert accompanied by the PVSB on Dec. 21, 2024 at 7:30 pm. Also on the show will be some a cappella performances, the Jazz Singers Combo, and, of course, this will all be capped off by the Hallelujah Chorus, Peace, Peace, and our Community Sing! About the PVSB
The Palos Verdes Symphonic Band, founded in 1962 and currently under the direction of Mark Hamamura and Eric Hankey, consists of local amateur and former professional musicians dedicated to bringing the best in concert band music to the South Bay community. Members include private and public-school music teachers, engineers, physicians, homemakers, students, and more!

Mark Hamamura, PVSB Music Director
Mark Hamamura is currently an Associate Professor at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa. Prior to becoming a full-time teacher, he developed novel medical imaging systems as a researcher at the University of California, Irvine, where he also earned his doctorate degree in Physics. While a graduate student, Mark simultaneously held the position of Director of Athletic Bands at his alma mater, where he directed the Pep Band, Concert Band, and Stage Band, and served as founding sponsor of the Lambda Alpha chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi, National Honorary Band Fraternity. More recently, he trained as a Conducting Fellow at the Pacific Northwest Conducting Institute and earned his Master of Arts degree in Music Education from Adams State University. He currently resides in Mission Viejo with his wife and two fur babies (aka cats).

Eric Hankey, PVSB Associate Music Director
Eric Hankey is currently the Band Director at Torrance High School, as well as organist and pianist for American Martyrs Catholic Church in Manhattan Beach. Previously, he served as Music Director for Bishop Montgomery High School, as well as conductor, arranger, teacher, and musician in hundreds of projects, including the Los Angeles Catholic Schools Band, Crescendo School of Music, Long Lake Camp for the Arts, Southeast Symphony Saturday Conservatory, Huntington Beach Symphony, Westchester Symphony, and numerous other schools and churches. He also enjoys engineering projects, classic cars, and travel, especially with his wife, two sons, and three dogs.
