A Word From the Artistic Director/Conductor

We completed another amazing year in the life of the Torrance Civic Chorale as we found new arts partners, continued to develop our jazz singers group, and pushed the development of both groups in many ways. We are fortunate to have the support of Torrance CitiCable, which recorded both of our concerts this year, both linked in the Update. I hope we will see you when we return if you sang with us this year, and if you are a former chorale member, consider returning to the group. We start up again on September 14. Please Join Us

We return for our 2026-27 season on September 14, 2026. The Torrance Civic Chorale will rehearse from 7:30-9:30 pm on Sept. 14, and new members are invited to "sit-in" for the first rehearsal. We will hold auditions for new members at 9:30 pm, immediately afterwards, and new members invited to join can register during the week so they are enrolled before the next rehearsal. WINTER FAMILY CELEBRATION

A Family Winter Celebration on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2025, featured the Torrance Civic Chorale and Jazz Singers with the Beach Cities Symphony Orchestra.

Mt. SAC Jazz Festival

The Torrance Jazz Singers, AKA the Torrance Civic Vocal Jazz Ensemble, traveled to Walnut, CA on March 20 to perform at the Mt. SAC Vocal Jazz Festival. The group is building quite a following with followers throughout the close-knit vocal jazz education community. Congrats to Precious Anyanwu and Colleen Charles, who also sang in an additional jazz solo clinic as part of the same festival.

Aloha and Good Vibrations

Aloha and Good Vibrations featured the Torrance Civic Chorale and Jazz Singers with special guests. The concert featured traditional music through contemporary music from Hawaii, plus hits from the Beach Boys. A super big thank you to our guest groups and their directors, Ms. Laura Savitz and the Riviera Elementary School Chorus, and Kumu Hula Keali'i Ceballos and Hālau Hula Kealiʻi O Nālani.

Torrance Jazz Singers Jazz Clinic

March 31 the Jazz Singers had the opportunity to work with Jeremy Fox in a vocal jazz clinic at the Nakano Theatre. In the clinic, Dr. Fox worked with the group on improvisation techniques, jazz style, and gave the group lots of great ideas to support their work!

Torrance Chorale Friends Jazz Soirée

The Torrance Chorale Friends present their first Jazz Fundraising Gala on Sunday, March 8, at Absolution Brewing Company, supporting the Torrance Civic Chorale and Jazz Singers, including jazz performances, a no-host refreshment stand, photo booth, silent auction, and more!
